MCFT: Geeky Wedding Items under $50

MCFT: Geeky Wedding Items under $50

With wedding things on my brain, I’ve been scouring Pinterest and Google for wedding ideas. I want to make sure there’s a piece of my fiance and I in each part of the wedding. We both love Doctor Who and Marvel. Not to mention Disney! I thought I’d share some of my favorite geeky wedding items I’ve come across so far. I adore little personal details and these little items fit the bill perfectly. *Some affiliate links have been used. Check out my about me page to learn more about these links.

One of my favorite wedding cake toppers I’ve seen so far! It’s a part of Amazon’s new handmade department. Although it’s not a part of the free 2-day shipping for Prime members, it’s only $14 and comes in a variety of colors and 3 different sizes.

Aren’t these Comic Book Paper Flowers adorable?! They could be used for bouquets, boutonnieres, or on the cake! They are also a part of Amazon’s handmade department. Choose your comic, accent color, and embellishment! For $25 for 5 flowers, you need these!

Have you seen the newest Spider-man movie? It really stole my heart. My fiance loved it as well and these cuff links would be awesome for his suit!

I’ve been pining over a TARDIS ring box for years. This one is handmade, hand-painted, and super cute. Use it for a ring box for the day of the wedding then have it as a keepsake to look back on your special day.

What are your current favorite things this week? Do you have any geeky wedding items to share? Tell me in the comments!

A geeky directional sign is an easy DIY craft you can complete on a lazy Saturday or you can purchase one via NorthIdahoConcepts’ Etsy shop.

How about some wibbly wobbly stepping stones? Our Nerd Home created this awesome DIY project and take you step by step with creating your very own Gallifreyan stepping stones.

While these planters have a hefty price tag ($198 & $128), you can probably make your own using toy helmets or a 3D printer if you’re looking to save on some cash.

Throw Pillows

The secret to making your geek throw pillows “blend” with you current aesthetic, is to either pair them with similar colors already found in your furniture, curtains and decor or find them in neutrals and vintage materials to that they’ll match anywhere. I left my hearts in Gallifrey, Dumbledore quote, and Life is Strange Quote pillows would be fit for any living room or bedroom.clear-495a83e08fc8e5d7569efe6339a1228ee08292fa1f2bee8e0be6532990cb3852.gif

5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Youtubers

5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Youtubers

Special thank you to Darling Stewie for this topic via her 5 Fandom Friday DLC (Stewie Pack)! She has inspired me to think up my own DLC for A Nerdy Girlie’s original idea of the 5 Fandom Friday topics! Make sure you check out that post soon. Without further ado, meet my 5 favorite Youtubers!

Probably the most “famous” Youtuber in this list is the one and only Markiplier. I discovered him while watching Five Nights at Freddy’s LP’s. He was absolutely hilarious and definitely earned his status of King of FNAF. Other videos of his that I love are his Amnesia LP and all of his Indie Horror RPG LP’s. He’s simply a fantastic, funny, and well-rounded person. If you love watching Let’s Play videos and need a good laugh, check him out.

Christopher Odd

Perhaps not the most “famous” Youtuber, Chris Odd attracts a more mature and adult audience. I found his channel mentioned in a thread about mature Let’s Players. After watching him play Little Nightmares and What Remains of Edith Finch, I was super happy with his walk-throughs and play style (set the vibe!). He plays very much in the same way I would play. If you’re looking for a more adult Let’s Player with an thorough play style, Chris Odd is a highly recommended Youtuber.

Liezl Jayne Strydom

After starting my own weight loss journey, and discovering forums dedicated to the 1200 calorie lifestyle, someone recommended Liezl Jane’s instagram which led me to her Youtube. If you’re following a low calorie diet, her channel is worth a look. She has several videos with snack and recipe ideas. Even if you just need some weight loss tips, she’s full of great information.

Nerdy Nummies – Rosanna Pansino

Rosanna Pansino quickly captured my heart with her geeky recipes that have already been mentioned on my blog a few times. I stumbled across her unicorn cake (Hello, 25th birthday!) and fell down a rabbit hole of fun and easy recipes that appeal to my geek side. You should check her out if you’re a beginner baker, already love to bake, or just love watching cool food creations come together.

Feast of Fiction

I discovered Feast of Fiction after looking around for Black Butler recipes, specifically the curry bun! (I search for the weirdest things I swear but if you watched the anime, you know how wonderful the food looks.) FoF covers all kinds of dishes from all your favorite shows, books, and anime. Most of the recipes are easy but some might be geared towards a more seasoned cook (pun intended). Check them out if you’ve ever wondered how to make Harry Potter’s butter beer or Black Butler’s curry buns.

MCFT: Summer Staple Pieces with Geeky Flare

MCFT: Summer Staple Pieces with Geeky Flare

With summer finally in full swing here in St. Louis, I had a chance to break out my hot-weather wardrobe, and it feels so good! I wanted to share with you a few looks from my closet that are similar for you to try out yourself. Here’s my summer must-have’s of the year.

Printed shorts are my go-to for chilling out on the weekend. They’re very Kimmy Schmidt-esque. They’re cute, comfortable and can be worn with any solid colored top. This pair of flamingo shorts is made for summer concerts, beach trips and getting wine with Titus.

Off-the-shoulder is very trendy right now; whether it’s a top or a dress, you’ll be staying cool with the “cold shoulder” detail. Check out my Belle inspired look with a plain pair of jeans and white top. Splash in some nice brown leather and yellow and you’re casually Disney-bounding! What’s great about this trend is you can find it in most retail stores in a variety of colors and sizes.

This outfit and the one above it have something in common… A gorgeous bralette! They are my favorite thing this summer! Cool and pretty under my favorite shirts and so, so comfortable. Victoria’s Secret has them on sale right now! You can find them in other stores too, but I like mine a lightly lined and not so see-through. I took a page from Megara’s book and paired it with purple and brown.

Maxi skirts are now a big thing in my summer closet. They’re cool enough to get me through hot days but chic enough for every day at the office. Just add unicorns for a splash of magic! (I’ve been on a unicorn kick since I saw Nerdy Nummie’s Unicorn Cake.) The skirt I have is from Torrid and has a sexy slit up the side (to keep you cool of course!). It’s also fun to pair these up with colorful geeky tops and cute themed clutches.

What are your favorite summer staples this year? How do you pair them with your geeky accessories? Let me know in the comments!

MCFT: St. Louis Eats

MCFT: St. Louis Eats

After my big move to St. Louis from a little town in Alabama, I tried to fit in a few touristy things. The best part of doing touristy things has been the FOOD! St. Louis has so much to offer and so many great restaurants, from holes in the wall to famous establishments. If you’re ever in St. Louis, you gotta try these places.

Hendrick’s BBQ

This place has become my favorite restaurant to bring my out-of-town guests to. The vibe is industrial rustic with BBQ so good you’ll wanna slap ya momma! Eat inside, on the patio, or on the deck with live music on the weekends. It’s never overly busy, and the wait staff is always on their game. Chat them up to find out favorite menu items of their customers.

Recommendations: Smoked Brisket, Chicken Biscuit, Macaroni and Cheese, Green Beans, Lemonade, Tennessee Tart (alcoholic)

Fitz’s Restaurant

Known for their root beer, Fitz’s is a very popular eatery on The Loop in St. Louis. I recommend reservations if possible! We went on a Sunday, and it was so packed, but so worth it. Definitely the best root beer floats I’ve ever had!

Recommendations: B.L.A.S.T., Bison Burger with Sweet Potato Fries, The Trolley Root Beer Float, Cream Soda

Dave & Tony’s

I was taken here by a good friend to get a quick dinner before a night of DnD. The best chicken sandwich I’ve had in awhile. You’ll want to eat it as soon as possible! Build your own burger with a cheat sheet at the front of the restaurant or order from the traditional menu. I can’t wait to try the other burger combinations! And don’t skip the garlic herb fries. They are heaven.

Recommendations: Grilled Chicken, Pretzel Bun, Garlic Herb Fries, Fitz’s Root Beer

The Hill has so many great restaurants. Favazza’s is a little on the fancy side but don’t think that you have to dress fancy to eat here! Eat on the patio and let the fireplace warm you under the stars or eat inside with good music and great vibes from the decor. You can’t leave St. Louis without trying some toasted ravioli, and if you stop in at Favazza’s you really should grab it as an appetizer!

Recommendations: Toasted Ravioli, House Salad, Filet Mignon, Salmon

Leave your favorite St. Louis restaurants and dish in the comments! Let’s explore St. Louis!

MCFT: Jewelry, Art & Kerli

I got these beauties on sale at Earthbound while I was at home for the holidays. They’re simple and complete any outfit. I’m in love with these chokers!

Gold Lotus Coasters

My dad made me a beautiful wooden coffee table when I moved to Missouri. I didn’t want it to get ruined so I had been using towels under my drinks. I also found these babies on sale at Earthbound but it looks like they’re sold out online! Photo from Store Indya.

Hogwarts Landscape Skater Dress

This was one of my Christmas gifts to myself. I can’t wait for the weather to warm up a little around here so I can wear this to work!

Kerli’s Independent Album

One of my favorite artists of all time. I pre-ordered this album so I’m not sure where you can buy it yet. She’s inspirational and has the voice of an angel. I can’t get enough of her music.

BBxRaven of Teen Titans

After seeing Gabriel Picolo’s artwork of Icarus and the Sun, I found his amazing Teen Titan pieces. I fell extra hard for Raven and Beast Boy and this “moving in together” artwork.
