5FF: Favorite Fictional Moms

5FF: Favorite Fictional Moms

If you’re participating in The Nerdy Girlie’s 5 Fandom Friday, you may have noticed a few of us have made some DLC’s (downloadable content) to complement the already lengthy blog prompt list courtesy of The Nerdy Girlie and Super Space Chick. You can check out my first DLC for 5 Fandom Friday: the GG Pack (the Geeky Gal Pack)!

With Mother’s Day this weekend, I thought this prompt would be super fitting as a shout out to all the amazing moms out there, fictional and real. I picked these five moms for several reasons but the main ones being that they were the most real and have their children’s best interests at heart. From Harry Potter to The Addams Family, these fictional moms are a step above the rest.

Molly Weasley

Molly not only cares for and protects her own children, but Harry and Hermione too. She does the very best she can even with limited means. What Molly lacks in money, she makes up for in love. She is one of the most selfless mothers I’ve encountered in literature.

Lorelai Gilmore

Lorelai is a great example of a single mom who grew up and is doing the best she can. While being your daughter’s mom and best friend comes with down sides, there’s also so many benefits. Rory trusts her mom and knows she can talk to her about anything.

Morticia Addams

While perhaps not the most “normal” mom of the bunch, Morticia has not only a firm place as a head of the household, but she has a healthy relationship with her children and her husband. She may not agree with all the choices her kids make, she allows them the freedom to make their own decisions and mistakes.

Linda Belcher

Linda is one of the more modern moms of our time. She not only has those parental duties down pat which earns love and respect from her kids but she also helps and supports her husband Bob’s restaurant dream! Being a fun and “cool” mom can be hard work, but Linda makes it look easy.

Peg Boggs

Peg is anything but just your local Avon representative. She is probably one of the kindest movie mothers with a heart of gold. She befriends Edward, bring him into her home where her kids readily accept him (amazing parenting right there), and fosters Edward’s creativity. She never makes him feel less than special.

The Mental Attic takes on changing male toxicity in video games. With the new God of War released, The Mental Attic digs into games with male protagonists that lack emotions and feelings with examples from modern games like Deus Ex and Shadow Warrior to male protagonists that grow and show emotion like Kratos in God of War.

AwksNerd takes us on a 5 point journey about how the Star Wars prequels benefited the original trilogy. As a big Padme Amidala fan (I mean, just ask my Chihuahua Padme), I really loved this list!
