I don’t get the chance to play video games with friends too often. When I was younger, my brother and I loved fighting games like Soul Caliber and Mortal Kombat. However, I found most 2 player games lacking. It was pretty hard to find an enjoyable two player game that wasn’t a shooter.
A year ago, during a trip to visit my then-fiance/now-husband in Ireland, Alec introduced me to Lego Star Wars. It was pretty fun, and I didn’t have a problem with the game itself. The real fun came later when my husband arrived in the US. He introduced me to Lego Harry Potter.
Initially I thought these games were just for young kids and had zero interest in playing them. That all changed one Saturday night on the couch when we popped in Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4. I loved playing this game. And I loved it even more playing with my husband as it really required some team work for puzzles, but we could both loot individually.
It was an experience to see Hogwarts as well as Diagon Alley and other locations in lego form. My favorite part is definitely being Hermione and using magic. The game makes it fairly simple to use magic, and the puzzles are really fun. Alec and I really have to pick this one back up for another Saturday game night.

If you’re participating in The Nerdy Girlie’s 5 Fandom Friday, you may have noticed a few of us have made some DLC’s to complement the already lengthy blog prompt list courtesy of The Nerdy Girlie and Super Space Chick. You can check out my first DLC for 5 Fandom Friday: the GG Pack (the Geeky Gal Pack)!
Thanksgiving is next week, and this prompt couldn’t be more relevant. Going back almost a year ago is one of my first 5FF posts: Fandoms That Made Me Who I Am. This post will hit on this a little bit, but much has changed in a year so get ready for some new fandoms I’m thankful for!
The series is over and I’m still obsessed. Halloween? HP marathon. Christmas? HP marathon. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read the books anymore as I’m reading them again!
I’m not totally caught up yet but I am so excited to see the new Doctor and all of her glory. The Doctor got me through a bad break up and became my favorite hero.
The newest fandom to join my list but also a goodie. Anyone else fall hard for these characters and the 80’s aesthetic?
One of the things that brought my hubby and I together: the mouse. We are so excited to see Disney World on our honeymoon next year.
Star Wars was a late fandom favorite for me but for the past three birthdays of mine, I’ve made my way to the theater for Star Wars.
What fandoms are you thankful for?
In honor of Harry’s birthday on July 31st, I will be dedicating the month of July to Harry Potter! Every post will be themed to celebrate JK Rowling’s popular series. I invite every blogger to do at least one Harry Potter post this month for Harry’s cake day! Feel free to use my graphic banner. Leave a comment with your name, blog name, the name of the HP post, and a link to the post so I can feature it here in this master post with mine! It’d also be pretty sweet to mention this post in your blog so others can contribute as well. I can’t wait to read your HP posts!
