When the World Government executed notorious pirate Gol D. Roger he announced that he’d hidden all his treasure in one place and whoever finds it gets to keep it all. This saw the beginning of the Great Pirate Era and, like most others, you would probably love to make that treasure your own.
To do that, you’re going to need a crew. Admittedly, this is based on my experience watching One Piece, however, you don’t have to have seen One Piece to join in. You will need to assemble a crew from the anime you’ve seen, selecting the best character for the positions. — Lynn Sheridan
Lynn tagged me in this very neat Pirate Crew Tag he created awhile back, and I have finally gotten around to it! Thanks for the tag Lynn! If you’re new to Lynn’s blog, definitely check out his books here!

Happy (late) New Year geeks! 2017 was amazing for A Geeky Gal, and 2018 was no different. I posted more, commented more, and just feel overall more confident in my blog. It honestly gives me a lot of excitement to see how much farther I can take my blog in 2019!
I couldn’t have done so well this year though without all of you and my fellow bloggers. Matt at Normal Happenings has been instrumental in giving advice and being a sounding board for ideas, and his collaborations as well as him letting me have given me more confidence as a writer/blogger. He also helped me get my first YouTube video up this year so I’m looking forward to doing more of those! All of that brings me to my resolutions for 2019.

Last week, A Geeky Gal was nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award by
! They are a new follower here on the blog, and their blog is all about cooking. They must be doing something right as they have been racking up their own blogging awards lately and raking in new followers! Thanks again Liba for the nomination. It’s very much appreciated.

Tomorrow I will be posting a new 30 day challenge prompt! Several months ago I did my own 30 Day Video Game Challenge. I really wanted to do one more this year and decided upon a theme… a theme that will be announced tomorrow when I post the entire 30 day prompt list! I’m so excited to share this with all of you, especially with the small success I’ve had with my new YouTube channel so far and how far my blog has come.
All of you have had a real hand in the success of A Geeky Gal. Thank you. I never imagined my little blog would reach so many people. And I never thought I’d have a YouTube channel. As a way to give back to this wonderful community, I wanted to do one more 30 Day Challenge this year.
So here’s your official heads up! Tomorrow I will be posting September’s 30 day challenge which will start on September 1st. Keep an eye on my blog and social media channels so you can get to writing! And of course be sure to link back to the prompt so I can give your posts a shout out on Twitter or Facebook.
I can’t wait to see everyone’s answers! Anyone want to guess the challenge? Leave your guess in the comments!

With Mother’s Day this weekend, I thought this prompt would be super fitting as a shout out to all the amazing moms out there, fictional and real. I picked these five moms for several reasons but the main ones being that they were the most real and have their children’s best interests at heart. From Harry Potter to The Addams Family, these fictional moms are a step above the rest.
Molly not only cares for and protects her own children, but Harry and Hermione too. She does the very best she can even with limited means. What Molly lacks in money, she makes up for in love. She is one of the most selfless mothers I’ve encountered in literature.
Lorelai is a great example of a single mom who grew up and is doing the best she can. While being your daughter’s mom and best friend comes with down sides, there’s also so many benefits. Rory trusts her mom and knows she can talk to her about anything.
While perhaps not the most “normal” mom of the bunch, Morticia has not only a firm place as a head of the household, but she has a healthy relationship with her children and her husband. She may not agree with all the choices her kids make, she allows them the freedom to make their own decisions and mistakes.
Linda is one of the more modern moms of our time. She not only has those parental duties down pat which earns love and respect from her kids but she also helps and supports her husband Bob’s restaurant dream! Being a fun and “cool” mom can be hard work, but Linda makes it look easy.
Peg is anything but just your local Avon representative. She is probably one of the kindest movie mothers with a heart of gold. She befriends Edward, bring him into her home where her kids readily accept him (amazing parenting right there), and fosters Edward’s creativity. She never makes him feel less than special.
