VGC Day 2: What game can you ignore the story and just “live” in the world?

VGC Day 2: What game can you ignore the story and just “live” in the world?

Enter the world of Animal Crossing. Make friends with the animals, fish to your heart’s content, find every fossil to be displayed at the museum, decorate your house over and over again… You can totally ignore all responsibilities (like paying back loans) and do  other things in the game if you just don’t feel like dealing with the stresses of the “main” story line.

With the release of Animal Crossing’s Pocket Camp, I found my love again for Animal Crossing. I haven’t picked up New Leaf in quite sometime, but Pocket Camp is a different kind of Animal Crossing. AC has a way of soothing and relaxing me after a long day at work. As a “quest-er” of gaming, I quite enjoy the meaningless tasks of helping the animals, gathering fruit, planting flowers, fishing for rare fish, catching exotic bugs, and decorating my camp ground.

The cute graphics, simplistic shading, and adorable game mechanics bring me back to those good ol’ GameCube days. Nostalgia and simplistic themes make this game very easy to just play and not worry with trophies or story lines. Even now, AC still carries weight within the gaming community. It’s definitely my favorite game to just “live” in.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, there was a guest post on A Geeky Gal about Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and even a Saturday Suggestion post! Can you tell it’s a game that I still manage to pick up on my 3DS when I need some down time? With Animal Crossing’s Pocket Camp out on mobile, anyone can dive into the world of Animal Crossing. I highly suggest trying it out if you enjoy quests and non-story-ish content.

Saturday Suggestion – Game: Animal Crossing New Leaf

Saturday Suggestion – Game: Animal Crossing New Leaf

This game is for sure my new addiction. I bought a 3DS solely for the purpose of playing this lovely gem. I actually had the first one for my GameCube and completely fell in love! Don’t let the art style fool you into thinking it’s just another kids’ game. It’s for anyone and everyone (trust me, I’m 21 years old). The point of this game isn’t reaching new levels or gaining points. The point is simply adventure. You get to spend your time just exploring this amazing, creative world all in real time.
