Spoilers! 2022 Blog, YouTube + Personal Resolutions

Happy New Year, geeks! I am so glad 2021 has come to a close, and we are going into 2022 with a fresh, clean slate. As you may already know, 2020 as well as 2021 presented many challenges for me mentally so I am more than ready to move on and up in 2022. 2021 wasn’t all bad though; it helped me realize my priorities and where my blog and content fall on that list. I was able to step back and see that I was overworking myself in order to excel at my day job and keep running my blog in all of my free time, not leaving enough time for me to actually enjoy my geeky passions and writing, which was the whole reason I started this blog.

With that said, I’ve had to think long and hard about what I want to focus on this year and how 2021 shaped my future personal and blog resolutions, both positively and negatively. I’ve learned so much over the last two years and have come to realize what I want for this blog of mine. I decided to cut down on the amount of resolutions I usually make for myself so you may notice that my lists are shorter than normal. So let’s take a look at those 2022 resolutions now.

Blog + Content Resolutions for 2022

  • Make my blog more accessible.
  • Switch web hosts and implement plugins for better functionality.
  • Create a media kit for A Geeky Gal.
  • Finish big “think piece” from 2021 in time for Halloween.
  • Reach 300 subs on YouTube.
  • Add Alt Fashion content to my TikTok.

I need to make my blog more accessible this year. It’s at the top of my list once I switch web hosts. After participating in Just Geeking By’s #GeekDis discussion, I realized how much my blog has failed to meet minimum requirements for not only being user friendly but also being accessible for everyone. I also have been meaning to create a media kit for years but never got around to it, so this year it will be a priority! I mentioned in my previous post that I had started my long think piece so I want to finish that this year in time for the spooky season.

Usually the second half of my content resolutions are centered around my YouTube channel but we’re switching things up this year! Other than 300 subs for 2022 making a reappearance, there’s not any other YouTube goals for this year. For TikTok, I plan to begin adding alternative fashion content. I’ve been wanting to find an outlet for a long time for my fashion that isn’t geared towards geeks, and I think TikTok is the platform for this!

Personal Resolutions for 2022

  • Create a vision board for 2022.
  • Reach a new weight lifting PR.
  • Fit in at least 15 minutes of movement per day.
  • Update the office to function better while working from home.
  • Complete at least 2 games from my backlog.
  • Keep up with my 2022 digital planner monthly.
  • Plan a trip.
  • Get my documents in order.

I made a vision board last year and I liked putting it together so much that I am bringing it back this year! For my health/wellness goals this year, I want to reach a new weight lifting personal record. I think I am going to go for a PR on dumbbells but we’ll see. I’ve been working from home since March 2020 and have become significantly less active than before so I am hoping when we update our home office to be more functional while I continue to work from home, we can add in a standing desk or a riser so I can stand up throughout the day as well.

I am bringing back another resolution from last year that I was able to achieve and that is completing at least 2 games from my backlog. I have a ton of NSFW games thanks to a Humble Bundle purchase a few months ago as well as several Otome games I got fro Christmas so I want to play some of those and get some Gaming After Dark reviews completed as well. I also started journaling last year but I had a hard time being consistent. I am bringing back my journaling resolution but instead of weekly, I’d like to make sure I at least do it monthly; hopefully it’ll become easier and a healthy habit that way! I am also hoping to plan a trip this year. I’m not sure if we’ll plan a trip this year and actually go on the trip next year, but I would really like something to look forward to. And lastly, another resolution repeat from last year: get my “adult” documents in order including a will.

  1. Sounds like a nice list of goals 🙂 And thanks for reminding me of vision boards! I should definitely do one myself. It’s such a fun creative way to visualize your goals instead of just writing them down.

It’s also great that you’re aiming to make your blog more accessible! Accessibility is so often overlooked on the Internet. I’m afraid my blog is pretty bad in that department at the moment so I have that on my to-do list as well.

    1. Thank you! I’m hoping having a shorter list this year will help me accomplish more. And vision boards are the BEST. I’ve got mine ALMOST ready to go.

Agreed 100%. I’m looking at some other blogs as well to see how they are handling accessibility. Hopefully by the end of the year, mine will be at least 25% more accessible. I would like it to be 100% but I don’t know if that’s possible. So I’m shooting for a big improvement instead! 🙂
