MCFT: Geeky Wedding Items under $50

MCFT: Geeky Wedding Items under $50

With wedding things on my brain, I’ve been scouring Pinterest and Google for wedding ideas. I want to make sure there’s a piece of my fiance and I in each part of the wedding. We both love Doctor Who and Marvel. Not to mention Disney! I thought I’d share some of my favorite geeky wedding items I’ve come across so far. I adore little personal details and these little items fit the bill perfectly. *Some affiliate links have been used. Check out my about me page to learn more about these links.

One of my favorite wedding cake toppers I’ve seen so far! It’s a part of Amazon’s new handmade department. Although it’s not a part of the free 2-day shipping for Prime members, it’s only $14 and comes in a variety of colors and 3 different sizes.

Aren’t these Comic Book Paper Flowers adorable?! They could be used for bouquets, boutonnieres, or on the cake! They are also a part of Amazon’s handmade department. Choose your comic, accent color, and embellishment! For $25 for 5 flowers, you need these!

Have you seen the newest Spider-man movie? It really stole my heart. My fiance loved it as well and these cuff links would be awesome for his suit!

I’ve been pining over a TARDIS ring box for years. This one is handmade, hand-painted, and super cute. Use it for a ring box for the day of the wedding then have it as a keepsake to look back on your special day.

What are your current favorite things this week? Do you have any geeky wedding items to share? Tell me in the comments!

MCFT: Librarian Chic

MCFT: Librarian Chic

MCFTLibrarian

So I am obsessed with the librarian look. You can make it edgy or hipster or preppy. It can be casual or business casual. It’s versatile and trendy but timeless. I can’t wait to try it myself! *Some affiliate links have been used. Check out my about me page to learn more about these links.

Both of these looks from Someone Like You remind me of Belle, the original Disney bookworm. The light blue shirt with white buttons is reminiscent of her first “peasant” dress. The mustard yellow cardigan is for her ball gown, and the burgundy dress is for her winter cloak. The scalloped edges on both of these outfits give them a whimsical feel.

To achieve this librarian chic look try this dress in burgundy, this cardigan in mustard, these boots in brown, and these tights in white.

More burgundy and mustard from Frocks and Frou Frou! I really love this color palette!

What caught my eye for these outfits were the classic shoes and the cute tee paired with a midi skirt. These look effortless and put together without being frumpy. You can roll straight out of bed and put these outfits together! No pre-planning required!

Recreate her second look with this HP t-shirt in white, this mustard skirt, this burgundy cardigan, this belt in coffee, and these shoes in Tobacco. Add a black Peter Pan collar for more fun then tie it all together with a fun Hogwarts lapel pin from Sore Winners on Etsy.

Love quirky accessories and even quirkier staple pieces? ME TOO! You can check out my quirky accessory Pinterest board here. Also, I’m obsessed with foxes right now, too. And probably forever because they are amazing and totally my spirit animal.

Bleu Avenue has captured my heart with her classic outfits and quirky accessories that she sneaks in – like that typewriter purse! Her outfits just scream librarian chic. But don’t scream in the library; that’s not cool.

For this foxy outfit, try this sweater in fox stone, this plaid skirt from Modcloth in extended sizes (I NEED!), and these black flats.

Last but not least is what I call the punk librarian. The bookworm with an edge. The reader with a dark soul… Le Happy has some awesome edgy outfits that could be for work or play on her blog and IG. You should totally check her out.

To give your librarian look an edge, try this boyfriend blazer from Maurice’s, this collared top or this cap sleeve top (both from Mod Cloth), these slim pants in black, these chunky ankle booties, this leather messenger bag, these rings from Torrid, and this lace choker that is also from Torrid.

MCFT: (Healthy) Party Food & Recipes for D&D Night

irls

I was super excited to be invited into a D&D campaign with some of my best friends a couple of months ago. I love everything about D&D and have loads of fun every time we play. Every Friday we get together and eat while we hash out the DM’s puzzles and battles. It’s been a great experience for me as a beginner.

Because it’s dinner time when we get together, we usually order take out or bring take out to the games. Here lately to save on cash, we’ve tried bringing in meat and cheese trays, pizza rolls, etc. Unfortunately, this isn’t that good for you. I wanted to find some healthy recipes beyond hummus and chips or veggie trays. Here’s a short list of some easy recipes to feed your adventurers during a D&D night.

MCFT: Summer Staple Pieces with Geeky Flare

irls

With summer finally in full swing here in St. Louis, I had a chance to break out my hot-weather wardrobe, and it feels so good! I wanted to share with you a few looks from my closet that are similar for you to try out yourself. Here’s my summer must-have’s of the year.

shorts.jpg

Printed shorts are my go-to for chilling out on the weekend. They’re very Kimmy Schmidt-esque. They’re cute, comfortable and can be worn with any solid colored top. This pair of flamingo shorts is made for summer concerts, beach trips and getting wine with Titus.

belle.jpg

Off-the-shoulder is very trendy right now; whether it’s a top or a dress, you’ll be staying cool with the “cold shoulder” detail. Check out my Belle inspired look with a plain pair of jeans and white top. Splash in some nice brown leather and yellow and you’re casually Disney-bounding! What’s great about this trend is you can find it in most retail stores in a variety of colors and sizes.

meg.jpg

This outfit and the one above it have something in common… A gorgeous bralette! They are my favorite thing this summer! Cool and pretty under my favorite shirts and so, so comfortable. Victoria’s Secret has them on sale right now! You can find them in other stores too, but I like mine a lightly lined and not so see-through. I took a page from Megara’s book and paired it with purple and brown.

maxi.jpg

Maxi skirts are now a big thing in my summer closet. They’re cool enough to get me through hot days but chic enough for every day at the office. Just add unicorns for a splash of magic! (I’ve been on a unicorn kick since I saw Nerdy Nummie’s Unicorn Cake.) The skirt I have is from Torrid and has a sexy slit up the side (to keep you cool of course!). It’s also fun to pair these up with colorful geeky tops and cute themed clutches.

What are your favorite summer staples this year? How do you pair them with your geeky accessories? Let me know in the comments!

MCFT: St. Louis Eats

irls

After my big move to St. Louis from a little town in Alabama, I tried to fit in a few touristy things. The best part of doing touristy things has been the FOOD! St. Louis has so much to offer and so many great restaurants, from holes in the wall to famous establishments. If you’re ever in St. Louis, you gotta try these places.

Hendrick’s BBQ

This place has become my favorite restaurant to bring my out-of-town guests to. The vibe is industrial rustic with BBQ so good you’ll wanna slap ya momma! Eat inside, on the patio, or on the deck with live music on the weekends. It’s never overly busy, and the wait staff is always on their game. Chat them up to find out favorite menu items of their customers.

Recommendations: Smoked Brisket, Chicken Biscuit, Macaroni and Cheese, Green Beans, Lemonade, Tennessee Tart (alcoholic)

Fitz’s Restaurant

Known for their root beer, Fitz’s is a very popular eatery on The Loop in St. Louis. I recommend reservations if possible! We went on a Sunday, and it was so packed, but so worth it. Definitely the best root beer floats I’ve ever had!

Recommendations: B.L.A.S.T., Bison Burger with Sweet Potato Fries, The Trolley Root Beer Float, Cream Soda

Dave & Tony’s

I was taken here by a good friend to get a quick dinner before a night of DnD. The best chicken sandwich I’ve had in awhile. You’ll want to eat it as soon as possible! Build your own burger with a cheat sheet at the front of the restaurant or order from the traditional menu. I can’t wait to try the other burger combinations! And don’t skip the garlic herb fries. They are heaven.

Recommendations: Grilled Chicken, Pretzel Bun, Garlic Herb Fries, Fitz’s Root Beer

Favazza’s

The Hill has so many great restaurants. Favazza’s is a little on the fancy side but don’t think that you have to dress fancy to eat here! Eat on the patio and let the fireplace warm you under the stars or eat inside with good music and great vibes from the decor. You can’t leave St. Louis without trying some toasted ravioli, and if you stop in at Favazza’s you really should grab it as an appetizer!

Recommendations: Toasted Ravioli, House Salad, Filet Mignon, Salmon
