Organize Your Life with a Private Discord Server in 5 Steps!

Organize Your Life with a Private Discord Server in 5 Steps!

Y’all. I stumbled across this TikTok that was like “make a private discord server to organize your life” and I had to do a double-triple take. How did I not think of this myself?! I don’t know about you, but my bookmarks, Etsy favorites, Pins, and lists get lost or disappear into the ether. As we speak, I am still looking for something I could have sworn I favorited on Etsy. And how many times has a pin been taken down and the link is lost to you forever? Too many if you ask me! Why is this post so high energy? I’m just excited to pass this on to someone who is as (sometimes) disorganized and as easily distracted as myself. I needed a space to collect all of these links, posts, and word dumps other than a million notes on my iPhone and Google Drive. The answer was this private Discord server brought to you by none other than TikTok.

My Favorite Sims 4 YouTubers

My Favorite Sims 4 YouTubers

Awhile back, I did a “Current Favorite Things” post about my favorite Sims 4 customer content creators. I knew the next post had to be dedicated to some lovely Simmers I follow on YouTube. I discovered all of these creators during my time in self-isolation and they helped me feel less alone and kept me inspired. They really are amazing people so please subscribe to their YouTube channels and/or Twitch channels. Many of the Simmers mentioned regularly stream and some stream for charity often. Every one of them is worth supporting, so please check them out!

How to Create a Cute Office Snack Cart

How to Create a Cute Office Snack Cart

Back in March, I finally gave into the snack cart TikTok trend and got myself a utility-turned-snack cart. If you haven’t seen this snack cart trend yet, creators on TikTok are building snack carts, decorating them, then filling them with snacks ASMR style. You can check out my video below to take a look at my empty decorated snack cart!

So why a snack cart you may ask? Well other than just not being able to get enough of the video trend, I found myself stuck in my upstairs home office practically starving from skipping meals! I would get off of work in the afternoon, head downstairs to the kitchen, and inhale anything that I could eat immediately like chips, cookies, etc. That behavior has really wrecked my eating habits and self confidence so I was looking for ways I could give myself easy access to healthy foods and snacks when I can’t get away from my desk for a proper meal. Enter: my Sailor Moon Snack Cart.

Finally decorated my snack cart! Stickers by MindSpeaks (Etsy) and AGeekGirlsTees (website). #sailormoon #snackcart #animesticker #geekygal

Seriously Geeky Sundays: New year, new… fandoms?

Seriously Geeky Sundays: New year, new… fandoms?

Heather at Just Geeking By has created wonderful and unique prompts for Sundays! There are a few other sites out there who post weekly prompts, but I have to say Heather’s are by far some of the most unique and imaginative that I’ve read. I’m really excited to make Seriously Geeky Sundays a staple here on the blog! See the prompts here!

I am playing catch up currently so these are past prompts that I wanted to participate in. This prompt is about new fandoms and was actually posted in early January. This is really showing how behind I am, but I hope you’ll enjoy the post anyway! Heather said “Welcome to the first Seriously Geeky Sundays of 2021! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season before the world decided to get depressing again. Well, we’re here this week to take your minds off all that by talking about the fun things on the way; what’s happening in the geeky world for you in 2021. So pull up a chair and join me as I tell you all about the new releases I’m excited about and what geeky plans I have for 2021!” Be sure to check out the rest of Heather’s post here.

Let’s start big; what release are you most looking forward to this year?

The Medium just might be my most anticipated horror game this year. It’s already out and available to play, but I’m planning on finishing a few games first like my (Haunting Ground playthrough on YouTube) before I buy yet another game. You are able to play in two environments at the same time, the real world and the spirit world. The Medium classifies itself as a slow-burn psychological horror which is right up my alley. I can’t wait to play this one!

What new release this year are you not that hyped up about?

I am absolutely not interested in Mortal Kombat 2021. Another video game movie? And we’ve already had a few Mortal Kombat movies? Don’t get me wrong; I love Mortal Kombat. It’s one of my favorite fighting games of all time, but video game movies have proven over and over again that they just aren’t that great. Mad props to the artists on the movie though. The only reason I would watch it would be for the fantastic special effects I’ve seen in the trailer.

A new year often means new characters, what upcoming character are you looking forward to meeting?

I had to have a long think about this one, and unfortunately because of me doing this in April instead of January, my answer is a character that I have met recently this year already. I was honestly excited about the newest Disney movie Raya and the Last Dragon until I found out that just like with Mulan that we would have to pay for the movie even though we already pay for Disney + every month unless we were willing to wait a few months when it becomes “free.” Money aside, we did watch it, and I loved Raya, but Sisu stole the show. I really enjoyed the different cultures and people that made up their land, too. Stunning imagery and fantastic artwork from everyone that worked on the movie. I don’t want to post any spoilers but the story had me in so many tears. It is a must-watch.

Tell us about something that has been on your backlog/to-do list for a while that you’re going to try to get to this year.

I have quite a few backlog games that I wanted to play this year, and so far, so good! I have completed Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A fragmentary passage-. I was able to finally start Kingdom Hearts 3! I still have a few “big title” games on my backlog that I hope to get to as well like God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn. I guess you could say I’m a bit of a patient gamer (if you are on reddit, you already know).

Thinking of a fandom you follow regularly, what event or moment (big or small) do you hope happens this year?

I really hope at the end of this year that we will be ready to have gatherings again, because I miss conventions so much. I know this isn’t fandom specific, but I miss cosplaying and seeing what the vendors are selling, buying everything I can afford from the artist alley, and going to panels that either leave me in tears from laughing so hard or leave me with some thoughtful ideas that get my creative wheels turning. I feel like I totally took conventions for granted when I thought I can go to one any time…

In the spirit of resolutions, do you have any geeky ones?

Yes! I go into way more detail about (all of) my 2021 resolutions in this post, but I’ll break down my geeky ones for you here.

  • Write at least one “think” piece for a video game.
  • Give Twitch streaming a try.
  • Stream for charity.
  • Complete at least 2 games from my backlog.

Please go check out Heather’s geeky Sunday prompts! You can see the introductory post here!

My Favorite Amazon Purchases for Pups!

My Favorite Amazon Purchases for Pups!

Back in January, my partner and I added a second dog to our family. It was quite the journey to finally get not only our application accepted, but to also be approved for the dog we applied for. Many families have been adopting during the pandemic, and I am so glad so many have found their forever homes! This terrific outcome from something so horrible came with a side effect: it was very, very difficult to find a puppy for adoption that was still available. After many emails, phone calls, and applications, I managed to not only get an accepted application but also approval for a dachshund beagle mix, otherwise known as a doxle. The only “catch” according to the rescue was that he had a disability: zero vision in his right eye and only half vision in his left. Alec and I weren’t deterred. Padme has had her own share of health issues, and we knew that we could handle the new puppy’s special circumstances. And so, we put down a deposit and drove two hours to a neighboring state to pick up our new family member!

Odin, named after the Norse god who himself is missing an eye, doesn’t let his lack of vision keep him from playing or getting into trouble haha! He is very smart and has caught onto his training quickly. Having a new puppy in the household has brought some challenges so I thought it would be a good time for me to share some purchases that have really helped us with Odin as well as our senior dog, Padme who had some health issues last year that really changed how our household functions. Below I will be giving my honest reviews on products I have purchased from Amazon for our two fur babies that have improved all of our lives.
