5 Fandom Friday: Apps I Can’t Live Without

five-fandom-friday1

If you’re like me, your phone is always at your side. You play your music on it, call your mom on it, watch funny cat videos on it. It’s a great tool for daily use, especially for me. I’m either sending a text, checking my calendar or putting in my meals to calorie count so my phone sees a lot of use. If I had to pick only five apps to have on my phone, it’d be these!

Recipes? Check. Outfits? Check. DIY? Check. Home decor? Check. Wedding? Check. Get everything and more with this app. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t already have an account, but if you don’t, you should. I can plan all my meals, find new ways to wear my clothes, create DIY crafts on the cheap, decorate my home, and plan my wedding from this app.

The only thing that got me through my first international flight? Harry Potter. I’m serious. I got through most of the book before we landed. I had never been on a plane before and took my first flight from Atlanta, GA to Philadelphia, PA then to Dublin, Ireland. The little hop from ATL to PHL went quickly. That overnight flight to Dublin was a bit rough. I felt sick and queasy and couldn’t sleep at all. Thank Loki for audio books.

My Fitness Pal

I have a big Spoilers! post planned to talk about my weight loss journey so far. MFP has been a big part of it. I’ll go into more detail in my Spoiler! post but this app allows to track your calories, exercise, water intake, weight, and more! If you’re active or trying to lose weight or maintain your current weight, My Fitness Pal is the best app you can get for free.

Amazon Music

My fancy new car (it’s not really fancy, but it’s fancy to me!) has blue tooth and I love to use Amazon Music to play my homemade playlists in the car. There’s so many current and popular free albums. Panic! at the Disco’s Death of Bachelor is essentially on in my car at all times. I do switch it up sometimes with a band-specific station depending on my mood.

Google Docs

Goggle Docs is amazing. I use it to make grocery lists, keep up with blog post ideas, track my bills, make my monthly budget, make my wedding budget, and also track my wedding budget so far. I can download word documents and PDF’s straight to it and save them in the app.

MCFT: Summer Staple Pieces with Geeky Flare

irls

With summer finally in full swing here in St. Louis, I had a chance to break out my hot-weather wardrobe, and it feels so good! I wanted to share with you a few looks from my closet that are similar for you to try out yourself. Here’s my summer must-have’s of the year.

shorts.jpg

Printed shorts are my go-to for chilling out on the weekend. They’re very Kimmy Schmidt-esque. They’re cute, comfortable and can be worn with any solid colored top. This pair of flamingo shorts is made for summer concerts, beach trips and getting wine with Titus.

belle.jpg

Off-the-shoulder is very trendy right now; whether it’s a top or a dress, you’ll be staying cool with the “cold shoulder” detail. Check out my Belle inspired look with a plain pair of jeans and white top. Splash in some nice brown leather and yellow and you’re casually Disney-bounding! What’s great about this trend is you can find it in most retail stores in a variety of colors and sizes.

meg.jpg

This outfit and the one above it have something in common… A gorgeous bralette! They are my favorite thing this summer! Cool and pretty under my favorite shirts and so, so comfortable. Victoria’s Secret has them on sale right now! You can find them in other stores too, but I like mine a lightly lined and not so see-through. I took a page from Megara’s book and paired it with purple and brown.

maxi.jpg

Maxi skirts are now a big thing in my summer closet. They’re cool enough to get me through hot days but chic enough for every day at the office. Just add unicorns for a splash of magic! (I’ve been on a unicorn kick since I saw Nerdy Nummie’s Unicorn Cake.) The skirt I have is from Torrid and has a sexy slit up the side (to keep you cool of course!). It’s also fun to pair these up with colorful geeky tops and cute themed clutches.

What are your favorite summer staples this year? How do you pair them with your geeky accessories? Let me know in the comments!

My Current Favorite Things

Chokers

I got these beauties on sale at Earthbound while I was at home for the holidays. They’re simple and complete any outfit. I’m in love with these chokers!

Gold Lotus Coasters

My dad made me a beautiful wooden coffee table when I moved to Missouri. I didn’t want it to get ruined so I had been using towels under my drinks. I also found these babies on sale at Earthbound but it looks like they’re sold out online!

Hogwarts Landscape Skater Dress

This was one of my Christmas gifts to myself. I can’t wait for the weather to warm up a little around here so I can wear this to work!

Kerli’s Independent Album

One of my favorite artists of all time. I pre-ordered this album so I’m not sure where you can buy it yet. She’s inspirational and has the voice of an angel. I can’t get enough of her music.

BBxRaven of Teen Titans

After seeing Gabriel Picolo’s artwork of Icarus and the Sun, I found his amazing Teen Titan pieces. I fell extra hard for Raven and Beast Boy and this “moving in together” artwork and similar drawings.

My Current Favorite Things

Black Fleece Lined Leggings

I got mine at Harvey and Hill in Prattville, AL. I love putting these on under my jeans or another pair of leggings to keep toasty on these cold St. Louis mornings!

Chelsea Boots

Ombre Black with Red

I got mine at Target but here’s some similar ones. Above: they are featured in a similar outfit that I wear to work!

Doctor Who: The Shakespeare Notebooks

My boyfriend purchased this for me last year as part of our “AnniBirthMas” long-distance gift exchange. I keep it on my make-shift bedside table (I can’t wait to buy a proper bedroom suite) and read a few passages every other night.

Downton Abbey

If Violet isn’t your favorite character, we can’t be friends.

St. Louis Art Museum

One of the best things about this beautiful museum is that it is FREE! I toured it with my grandmother, and we spent three and a half hours on the first floor alone!
