5 Forgotten Horror Games that Will Haunt You for Years… [5 Freaky Faves]

5 Forgotten Horror Games that Will Haunt You for Years… [5 Freaky Faves]

It’s no secret how much I love horror games. I’ve been playing them for about twenty years now! With all this time that has passed, I decided to use my YouTube channel as a spring board for me to revisit some of my first horror games that left with me some… feelings… at the end. Revisiting them at a later point in my life gave me a new perspective which I had anticipated. What I didn’t anticipate was how often these games would haunt me, especially at night. Let’s talk about five horror games that are still haunting me after all these years.

5 Horror Webtoons Guaranteed to Keep You Up at Night! [5 Freaky Faves]

5 Horror Webtoons Guaranteed to Keep You Up at Night! [5 Freaky Faves]

It’s the month of October and you know what that means… 5 Freaky Faves is back! In case you’re new around here or don’t remember 5 Freaky Faves from previous Octobers, 5 Freaky Faves is a spooky take on 5 Fandom Friday, which has been retired for the most part by the original creators, but I still love making these lists so I am carrying on the spirit with my own version of 5FF. Now let’s get to the five horror Webtoons that will keep you up at night!

Everything is Fine

Everything is fine in this Webtoon Original by Mike Birchall. Meet Sam and Maggie, just a normal couple living in a normal neighborhood with their normal dog and their normal neighbors where everything is… normal. Or so it seems. This suburb has some strange things happening… but our characters continue to say that “Everything is Fine.” Behind the cute art style and animal head characters, something unnerving lurks in the panels of this Webtoon. Maggie isn’t just the loving housewife, and begins to look into things that she probably shouldn’t. I have a funny feeling that everything is NOT fine…

Seriously Geeky Sundays: New year, new… fandoms?

Seriously Geeky Sundays: New year, new… fandoms?

Heather at Just Geeking By has created wonderful and unique prompts for Sundays! There are a few other sites out there who post weekly prompts, but I have to say Heather’s are by far some of the most unique and imaginative that I’ve read. I’m really excited to make Seriously Geeky Sundays a staple here on the blog! See the prompts here!

I am playing catch up currently so these are past prompts that I wanted to participate in. This prompt is about new fandoms and was actually posted in early January. This is really showing how behind I am, but I hope you’ll enjoy the post anyway! Heather said “Welcome to the first Seriously Geeky Sundays of 2021! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season before the world decided to get depressing again. Well, we’re here this week to take your minds off all that by talking about the fun things on the way; what’s happening in the geeky world for you in 2021. So pull up a chair and join me as I tell you all about the new releases I’m excited about and what geeky plans I have for 2021!” Be sure to check out the rest of Heather’s post here.

Let’s start big; what release are you most looking forward to this year?

The Medium just might be my most anticipated horror game this year. It’s already out and available to play, but I’m planning on finishing a few games first like my (Haunting Ground playthrough on YouTube) before I buy yet another game. You are able to play in two environments at the same time, the real world and the spirit world. The Medium classifies itself as a slow-burn psychological horror which is right up my alley. I can’t wait to play this one!

What new release this year are you not that hyped up about?

I am absolutely not interested in Mortal Kombat 2021. Another video game movie? And we’ve already had a few Mortal Kombat movies? Don’t get me wrong; I love Mortal Kombat. It’s one of my favorite fighting games of all time, but video game movies have proven over and over again that they just aren’t that great. Mad props to the artists on the movie though. The only reason I would watch it would be for the fantastic special effects I’ve seen in the trailer.

A new year often means new characters, what upcoming character are you looking forward to meeting?

I had to have a long think about this one, and unfortunately because of me doing this in April instead of January, my answer is a character that I have met recently this year already. I was honestly excited about the newest Disney movie Raya and the Last Dragon until I found out that just like with Mulan that we would have to pay for the movie even though we already pay for Disney + every month unless we were willing to wait a few months when it becomes “free.” Money aside, we did watch it, and I loved Raya, but Sisu stole the show. I really enjoyed the different cultures and people that made up their land, too. Stunning imagery and fantastic artwork from everyone that worked on the movie. I don’t want to post any spoilers but the story had me in so many tears. It is a must-watch.

Tell us about something that has been on your backlog/to-do list for a while that you’re going to try to get to this year.

I have quite a few backlog games that I wanted to play this year, and so far, so good! I have completed Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A fragmentary passage-. I was able to finally start Kingdom Hearts 3! I still have a few “big title” games on my backlog that I hope to get to as well like God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn. I guess you could say I’m a bit of a patient gamer (if you are on reddit, you already know).

Thinking of a fandom you follow regularly, what event or moment (big or small) do you hope happens this year?

I really hope at the end of this year that we will be ready to have gatherings again, because I miss conventions so much. I know this isn’t fandom specific, but I miss cosplaying and seeing what the vendors are selling, buying everything I can afford from the artist alley, and going to panels that either leave me in tears from laughing so hard or leave me with some thoughtful ideas that get my creative wheels turning. I feel like I totally took conventions for granted when I thought I can go to one any time…

In the spirit of resolutions, do you have any geeky ones?

Yes! I go into way more detail about (all of) my 2021 resolutions in this post, but I’ll break down my geeky ones for you here.

  • Write at least one “think” piece for a video game.
  • Give Twitch streaming a try.
  • Stream for charity.
  • Complete at least 2 games from my backlog.
