This month, A Geeky Gal was tagged in the Happy International Women’s Day: Powerful females tag by Annie at Evening Tea Musings! I realize I am not posting this on International Women’s Day, but we can celebrate women today too! Thank you so much, Annie! Annie is super sweet, and this tag that she has created looks awesome. You know, it’s not often that I’m able to squeeze a tag in once my schedule has been set, but I knew I needed to make an exception for this one. Be sure to check out Annie’s blog where she “spills the tea” on books, anime, games, Asian dramas, and Kpop.

The Rules:
- Choose a female (real or fictional) for every prompt.
- Tag at least one female blogger.
- Pingback to Annie’s Powerful females’ tag.
- Enjoy~
Name a female known for her intelligence
Samantha Carter of Stargate SG-1 is extremely intelligent. She is an engineer, an astrophysicist, and a Colonel in the United States Air Force. She is one of my favorite fictional characters in Sci-Fi. Sam is really one of the best female characters in Sci-Fi in my honest opinion.
Name a female known for her physical strength
I think a lot of people tend to forget how strong Asuna Yuuki is. Her nickname is ‘The Flash’ and for good reason. Her speed far surpasses many of the players in Sword Art Online. She was the co-leader of Knights of the Blood guild during the SAO arc. She also went toe to toe with an undefeated player nicknamed Absolute Sword (also known as Yuuki of the Sleeping Knights guild), and although she ultimately lost, Yuuki was so impressed with her strength and integrity that she invited her to accompany her and her guild to defeat a powerful boss, which they did and had their names forever inscribed on the Monument of Swordsmen.
Name a female who powered through difficult times
There are so many female characters that could go here but I think Korra deserves this spot the most. I plan on exploring more of the mental health aspect of Legend of Korra in a future post, but Korra has gone through so much as the avatar and also as a young person growing into herself. She experiences several traumatic events like losing her ability to bend most of the elements, her connection with past Avatars being destroyed, and getting kidnapped and tortured. Unfortunately that is only events from the first three books. Despite the hardships and trauma, Korra continues to rise up, try to heal, and walks her own path of being the Avatar she wants to be.
Name a female who you want to be friends/roommates with
Tohru Honda repeatedly proves that she would be the ideal best friend and roommate. She’s a great listener, offers advice when needed, and likes to cook. As someone who enjoys deep conversations and food, being roommates and friends with Tohru would be a match made in heaven. Tohru is also super sweet and caring. I love her character so much, especially now that I have finished the second season of Fruits Basket!
Name a female who you think is a good role model
I would guess that my answer to this one is going to surprise some people. Hoshi Sato of Star Terk: Enterprise is, in my opinion, one of the most important characters in the series. She is so incredible intelligent and linguistic which Enterprise needs as the navigate the universe meeting new species and trying to communicate in languages they have never heard before. Hoshi was also responsible for the creation of what would be the universal translator. She is an important member to her team and Enterprise, but she is also… normal. She has fears and hopes. She overcomes and perseveres. She’s a great role model especially for those who love Sci-Fi and the strong women.
Name a female who deserves the spotlight

Okay, so this isn’t technically a single person, but I felt like I could bend the rules a bit here. The Dora Milaje, an all female military group in the Marvel universe, captured my heart the moment I saw Okoye. While I’m not a fan of the “ceremonial wives-in-training” bit, I do think that it’s totally bad ass to have a group of African women who serve as the special forces of Wakanda and are the personal body guards to the King.

I still haven’t watched Black Panther, and I really should 😭 I still haven’t watched Fruit Basket either…but seeing people mention them frequently in their videos or posts makes me think I should pick it up 🤔 Regardless, love reading your answers like always!

With you 100% about Samantha Carter. One of the best female characters ever.

I was not surprised to see Asuna on here! Though I thought you wanted her as a Roommate!
After the Mother Rosario Arc she seemed like a pretty good roommate to me!
Sam Carter is such a good shout out as well! I actually did this post already myself and got tagged again… so I was working on a creative idea to do the tag.. while not doing the tag… and Sam Carter actually gave me an idea! So thank you!
I forgot all about Hoshi, she was a great character! I never really was a huge fan of T’Pol because she so much felt like “what if Spock was a girl” with a romance tagged on.. but Hoshi always felt like her own thing! I do believe she is a woman people can indeed look up to!..
I wasn’t a huge fan of Black Panther the movie, I think it would have worked better without Black Panther.. as in the super power/super hero elements of it. The world building and the whole army of badass women though was pretty cool!
So some great picks there! Like I said I won’t exactly be doing this tag.. but I will be doing something with the tag as a second go around! But hey you gave me the idea for it and I may even borrow Sam Carter! Great picks and you are definitely a powerful female yourself! So grats on the nomination!

Haha! I pretty much mention Asuna whenever I can. I’m sure you have noticed. 😉
Hoshi was definitely my favorite. T’Pol wasn’t too bad just not my fave, but I definitely know what you mean. I hate that the series ended so early. Apparently it didn’t do well with fans because they didn’t like how personal it was and the series showing character struggles and growth made them feel like they weren’t watching Star Trek or some garbage like that. 🙄
I can’t wait to see your spin on the tag! Hope Sam Carter makes an appearance!
Thank you so much as always Pinkie! ❤️
