We have finally made it to the end of 2020. Back in June, I chatted about where I was at with the resolutions I made at the beginning of 2020. This year has been full of ups and downs for everyone. 2020 has by far been one of the hardest years for my blog and my mental health. I’ve had more breaks and hiatuses than planned. Regardless, I wanted to take a look at my 2020 resolutions that I set at the beginning of the year to see how far I’ve come, how my goals have changed, and what I want to work on next year! 2021 resolutions are coming January 4th! (Please let 2021 be better!)
My break gave me a fresh perspective on my blog, YouTube channel, and my personal life. I’ve made great strides towards some of these resolutions, but others have fallen to the wayside (as they do sometimes), and that’s okay!Spoilers! Mid Year-2020 Blog + Personal Resolutions

I met my goal of at least two YouTube videos a month and even had months where I was able to post every week! I’m so glad that I gave myself some room to breathe here because I’ve been able to create, edit, and upload videos without stressing about meeting a personal quota. I am still learning how to better edit my videos, but have seen improvement compared to my older videos. One of my next goals will be to find an editing style that feels like me!
Due to COVID-19, my LookBooks did not go as planned for this year as I said back in June. I had originally planned for two LookBooks but was only able to release one. While the BLACKPINK Airport Fashion Lookbook // Recreating Mid Sized Outfits video didn’t go as I had originally planned, I’m still happy with how everything turned out. In that same vein, I also wanted to interview two geeks for Geeks Doing Geeky Things that were local to STL, but due to current circumstances, that wasn’t feasible. I have been in talks with three geeky YouTubers about doing interviews for next year though!
For YouTube, I wanted to reach 500 subscribers this year, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. I only made it to 153, but I’m confident that I will continue to gain subscribers as I upload more. I was able to complete yet another 30 Day Challenge for my blog, and I think it was overall very successful! I was also hoping to write more mental health content for 2020, and I think I personally succeeded in that goal even with my breaks. Updating my photos on the blog has been put on the back burner due to our current circumstances. Hosting a giveaway will also have to wait until next year.
Last, but not least, I launched a Patreon for my blog and YouTube channel back in February! I’m super proud of how everything turned out. If you’d like to check it out and become a part of the Geeky Gang while taking advantage of some cool benefits, check out this link!
Personal Resolutions for 2020
- Get an LLC for freelancing.
- Add to my 3D model portfolio.
Less junk food; more fruits and veggies.(Done, but WIP) Be more eco-friendly & sustainable.(Done, but WIP)
- Marie Kondo my stuff.
Travel somewhere new.(Cancelled.) Take a vacation.(Cancelled.)
- Start writing a book.
Complain less; appreciate more.(Done, but WIP) Be kinder to myself.(Done, but WIP)
While I was able to settle on a name and start working on a website for my future freelancing business, I’ve decided to put my LLC on hold until real life gets sorted again. I’m honestly not sure when that will be since things have changed so much since I created this resolution including getting a promotion as a lead/supervisor at my job. Another year has gone by where I’ve been actively working on my portfolio, but have yet to add anything to it. Sigh. My wellness journey has wavered while self isolating for so long. Being without a gym and my mental health taking a nose dive has greatly affected me, but I’m still slowly working towards my goal of being happy in my body and healing my relationship with food. I had a goal of becoming more sustainable and am still working towards finding more ways to be more eco-friendly! I purchased a hybrid vehicle back in January that I share with my partner (so we’re currently a single car household) as a part of this goal. I am also still working on Marie Kondo’ing my spaces and things, but haven’t gotten to everything just yet so I’m not crossing this one off right now.
Traveling and taking a vacation are two resolutions that won’t be crossed off this year for obvious reasons. As far as my future book goes, I’ve been able to dig out my old notebooks and find my old work documents; however, I decided I’m not ready to dive back into that world yet. Maybe next year. My last two resolutions are still a work in progress. I’ve still been having a hard time appreciating anything right now with everything still going on, but I have been able to find small things to be thankful for. Therapy has been a tremendous help in this department. And there have been some instances where I’ve been able to be kinder to myself when in the past, I would have beaten myself up. For example, I’ve been forgiving myself for not meeting wellness goals this year and focusing instead on just doing some kind of movement every day versus losing weight.
In January, I said I was looking forward to the year no matter what came my way. While things weren’t as positive as I’d have liked them to be, I’m still hung in there and made the best of things. And honestly, that’s all we can do right now. I have hopes that next year will be better. Stay tuned for my 2021 resolutions next week!
Thank you for all of your support this year! All of this wouldn’t have been possible without you!
