Welcome to my June and July 2020 recap! It’s been pretty busy around here; so busy, in fact, that I had to tie June and July together for a mega recap! Not to worry though, July saw the yearly 30 Day Challenge so this recap won’t be as overwhelming as you think. With the first week of August upon us, let’s take a look at the months of June and July here on A Geeky Gal!
I started dipping my toes into K-Pop last August when I heard “Waste It On Me” by Steve Aoki & BTS which led to me falling into an ocean of Blackpink songs. I completely bypassed BTS somehow despite loving “Waste It On Me.” Yeah… I don’t know either! Not to worry though, I did eventually find myself back in the arms of BTS, but until then, I did what I always do when I want to know more about something: I turned to Twitter!
I was given so many recommendations including a master YouTube playlist from Mel in Anime Land that had so much early K-Pop for me to try out. Unfortunately, a lot of these songs aren’t on Spotify so I made a much smaller YouTube watch list of songs from Mel’s wonderful and extensive list. I even had some individual songs recommended to me from some of my blogging friends! Then, like the universe had heard me, a few of my fellow bloggers shared their K-Pop playlists and favorite songs. Before I knew it, I had fallen down a rabbit hole of amazing Korean/English lyrics, sweet vocals, and beats that lifted me up.
It’s that time of the year where I check in on all of the resolutions I made at the beginning of 2020! I like to do these mid-year refreshers to see what I need to continue working on and what is near accomplishment if it hasn’t already been completed. Like last year, I took a break in May to focus on my mental health and self care. Like everyone else, I have been struggling with self isolation and needed some time away to care for myself.
My break gave me a fresh perspective on my blog, YouTube channel, and my personal life. I’ve made great strides towards some of these resolutions, but others have fallen to the wayside (as they do sometimes), and that’s okay!
Welcome to the 30 Day Harry Potter Challenge! If you’ve participated in one of my challenges before, like the 30 Day Video Game Challenge, 30 Day Anime Challenge, and the 30 Day Geek Out Challenge, you might be a bit familiar with how I roll these challenges out! I will be submitting each question daily at midnight (central time). You can participate the same day as me or wait until Day 31 where I will wrap up all the questions with my links back to each daily post or you can take the challenge whenever you’re ready. There’s no time limit on when you can take on the challenge!
This prompt is all about your love for Harry Potter and Hogwarts. You’re not just taking a trip down memory lane for this challenge. You also will explore Hogwarts’ student life like classes, fashion, and more. I’ve also included some thought-provoking questions for us to consider when it comes to one of our most magical fandoms like morality, character deaths, and more. Ready your wands for a Harry Potter challenge like no other!

Hi! I’m Megan. I think it’s been a minute since I introduced myself again on here so please allow me to tell you a bit about myself. I write for my blog A Geeky Gal. I really enjoy writing about video games, anime, and mental health, but you can find something for just about any geek on my blog. I think I’m most known for my 30 day writing challenges that focus on geeky subjects. I’ve created a #30dayvideogamechallenge, a #30dayanimechallenge, and a #30daygeekoutchallenge. I have another challenge in the works this year that just as geeky as its previous successors. I also have a YouTube channel under the name of Megan Marie. My channel has evolved over its creation. While I still enjoy talking about geeky things, I’ve spilled over into a bit of lifestyle, mental health talks, fashion, and playing PlayStation 2 horror games. You’ll also spot some Sims 4 builds and random tidbits. To get a bit more personal… I’m 27 years old, use she/her pronouns, am married to an Irish immigrant, originally from Alabama, and currently living in Missouri. I am a 3D Artist (think 3D models for games ♥️) and graphic designer. I’ve been doing this for 7 years now and love it. I was even recently promoted to a manager position in my art department! I’m just as passionate about my career as I am about writing and creating. I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a bit better and will stick around to see what’s in store! . . . #geekblogsunite #geekygal #geekyblogger #geekyyoutuber #writersofig #horrorletsplayer #horrorgames #geekfashion #midsizefashion #geekblog #videogameblog #animeblog #mentalhealthblog
