If you’re interested in participating in the Harry Potter Challenge, read this post here! Each day I will be posting a question for that day for the next 30 days. When I reach day 31, I will release all 30 questions in a single post with links to all of my answers. Follow along each day with your own post or feel free to wait until the entire challenge has been released and take it on whenever you like! Be sure to link back to the master post at the end or link back to each post for each day.
Day 18 – Herbology: What magical plant would you want in your garden?
“These are the Wrackspurt siphons — to remove all sources of distraction from the thinker’s immediate area. Here, a billywig propeller, to induce an elevated frame of mind. Finally, the dirigible Plum, so as to enhance the ability to accept the extraordinary.” — Xenophilius Lovegood
Probably the most notable plants in the Harry Potter series are the Womping Willow and the Mandrake, neither of which you’d find in my fictional garden! I would absolutely love to have some Dirigible Plums though. If these don’t quite ring a bell, You can spot them outside of the Lovegood’s home. Luna Lovegood has also sported some of these fruits as earrings! These orange radish-like plums grow upside down. They have also been thought to be inspired by the Bible’s forbidden fruit as it enhances one’s awareness therefore allowing one to be more open to learning.
In Herbology class, we’re discussing magical plants we’d want in out fictional gardens! Feel free to tell us what plant you’d have in the comments below OR take on the challenge yourself and link back to this post so I can see your answer!
