Seriously Geeky Sundays: Easter & Spring

Heather at Just Geeking By has created wonderful and unique prompts for Sundays! There are a few other sites out there who post weekly prompts, but I have to say Heather’s are by far some of the most unique and imaginative that I’ve read. I’m really excited to make Seriously Geeky Sundays a staple here on the blog! See the prompts here!

Today’s prompt is about Easter and Spring. I was so delighted when I saw the questions for this Sunday! I haven’t ever really had the chance to talk about Easter on the blog and I think this has presented the perfect opportunity to do so. I know this year’s Easter is vastly different for everyone due to the current events, but taking on this prompt is shining a little light on the situation.

Who is your favorite bunny?

Judy Hopps of ZootopiaZootopia is one of my comfort films, and Judy’s character is such a well-thought out one. Being short myself, I have dealt with being underestimated and doubted like Judy, especially when it comes to anything physical. I started lifting weights in an effort to get more fit, but I ended up gaining more confidence in myself and being able to prove people wrong.

Spring is a time of rebirth so thinking about fictional worlds and characters; what does rebirth mean to you?

When I think of rebirth, the first thing that comes to mind is the phoenix. To me, the most prolific phoenix in fiction is Fawkes from Harry Potter. But, more importantly, when I think of rebirth, I also think of how I have changed as a person, over and over again. I am not the same person I was at 10 or 18 or even 25. I have been through a series of rebirths as a result of trauma, recovering, finding myself, finding real love, and finding my kind of people.

Easter wouldn’t be the same without Easter Eggs; if you could have anything hatch from an egg what would it be?

What an interesting question! I think anything with fur about be cute popping out of an egg like a bunny or a kitten or a puppy. If I wanted to get weird though, it’d be cool for everyday items to hatch out of eggs like pens, paper, tape, scissors… Office supplies hatching out of eggs would be interesting.

What fictional location reminds you of spring?

Any cherry blossom scene from anime automatically takes me to thoughts of Spring. It seems like a lot of locations in anime are based upon real-life locations, so I’m sure for every fictional location of cherry blossoms, there is a real location that inspired it. There’s an entire post floating around about all the real-life locations in Your Lie in April which is an anime that makes me think of Spring as well.

An Easter egg isn’t just a chocolate treat it’s also a hidden item for fans to spot. What’s your favorite easter egg?

Disney are masters at hidden Easter eggs in their films. One recent one that caught my eye was in Toy Story 4 where you can spot a key that looks a lot like a keyblade (Kingdom Hearts). But Disney also likes to scatter things from other works throughout their movies too. I actually have the pleasure of working with one of the artists who has worked on past Disney films, one of them being Lilo and Stitch. He showed me several of the Easter eggs they scattered through out the movie including a few references to Mulan, a previous movie he worked on!

Plan a themed Easter egg hunt for your favorite characters.

I’d love to take the original characters from Kingdom Hearts and put them through a Disney and Final Fantasy themed Easter egg hunt! Lots of hidden mickeys and Final Fantasy references!

  1. Your answers were so beautiful and thoughtful! The cherry blossoms make me think of the World of Warcraft expansion Mists of Pandaria which is oriental based and every zone, except one called the Dread Wastes, has that spring cherry blossom vibe. I purposely avoided that game when answering that question because I’d probably be still writing about it now 😀

And oh my goodness, stationery easter eggs! I remember the first time I heard about make-up/beauty easter eggs and non-chocolate advent calendars. Someone needs to make non-chocolate easter eggs a thing!

    1. Thank you so much, Heather! ❤

I'd totally be down for some non-chocolate Easter eggs. Our Easter felt so strange yesterday. We didn't have a typical Easter dinner (like most people I'm sure), no candy eggs, I even forgot to call my mom (but she called me and we had a chat about have strange everything is). There's always next year though!
