February has got me feeling all the lovey-dovey feels! I wanted to share some of my favorite romance anime with you that also has a healthy dash of comedy. Every so often I like to try to do little round ups of my favorite anime. Last time I did this, it was four sweet and short-ish anime. This time I wanted to share my personal top five anime romantic comedies including some old favorites and new ones.
I’m also hoping to watch more romantic comedies in 2020 so please let me know what you think I should watch! I’ve added several of your recommendations from Twitter to my anime list if you’d like to check it out!
1. Ouran High School Host Club
Ouran High School Host Club is one of my favorite romance anime of all time. If you want to read my review, you can check that out here! It made me laugh, cry, and fall head over heels in love with the characters. If you’re looking for a fun romance with cute tropes, OHSHC needs to be on your list!
- Find it on Hulu, Netflix, Crunchyroll
- Comedic Romance, Shoujo, Harem
- Rated PG-13
2. Fruits Basket (2019)
Fruits Basket has quickly stolen my heart. I may have missed the hype train the first time around, but you can bet that I’m on it for 2019/2020! In fact, I’m itching to get my hands on the manga so I can continue the story now that I’m caught up on Hulu. Out of all the anime on this list, Fruits Basket is probably the newest anime despite being a remake.
- Find it on Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Crunchyroll
- Comedic Romance, Slice of Life, Shoujo, Harem
- Rated PG-13
3. My Love Story!!
If watching love bloom and getting frustrated at characters (JUST KISS ALREADY!) is your cup of tea, My Love Story!! fits the OHSHC aethetic pretty well. It’s not your typical romance, and the characters are so, so good. The whole cast is easy to love. This one of the most whole romance anime I have ever watched. I definitely recommend it.
- Find it on Hulu, Crunchyroll
- Comedic Romance, Shoujo
- Rated PG-13
4. Chobits
Chobits was one of my first manga ever. I remember being drawn in by the pretty covers so I picked them up and fell in love. Of course, I think the manga is better than the anime; however, the anime is cute with funny ecchi moments and fan service for those that enjoy that kind of thing (I know I do). Chi is simply adorable, and the story is deeper than you think.
- Find it on Amazon Prime Video, Crunchyroll, Funimation
- Comedic Romance, Sci-Fi, Drama, Ecchi, Seinen
- Rated PG-13
5. Rosario + Vampire
I can’t believe I haven’t written more about Rosario + Vampire (or Rosario to Vampire). Moka is one of my favorite anime characters ever. One side is sweet and bubbly while the other takes names and kicks ass. Lots of fan service and ecchi in this one, but still a solid rom-com. I really need to read the manga…
- Find it on Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Crunchyroll, Funimation
- Comedic Romance, Harem, Ecchi, Fantasy, Shounen
- Rated R+ (Mild Nudity)

I used to watch anime and my favorite romance one was Wedding Peach. Not 100% rom-com but still.

I LOVE the first four series and haven’t seen Rosario + Vampire! But I’m adding it to my list as it definitely seems like it will be one I would enjoy based on your other four recommendations!
Also I’m loving the new Furuba!!!! And I’m excited to see the whole story play out! <3!

Sorry for the late response! Furuba is old (ancient now in terms of intent) slang for Fruits Basket! Sorry for any confusion!

I’m not a massive anime person, but I do really like the sound of My Love Story. I’m a bit of a sucker for a match you see coming before they do.
