Happy New Year, geeks! 2019 was amazing for A Geeky Gal, and 2020 is going to be even more amazing! I’m manifesting it! I am so excited to see how much farther I can take my blog and YouTube channel in 2020!
There’s been immense growth on my blog the last few years. I have so many new and returning readers! My YouTube channel even passed 100 subscribers! My latest 30 Day Challenge has been my favorite challenge so far, and I can’t wait for this year’s 30 Day Challenge. I’m officially ready for what the year has in store for me and my blog! Now let’s talk resolutions for 2020.
Blog Resolutions for 2020
- Post at least two YouTube videos a month.
- Learn how to edit videos better.
- Complete two look books for YouTube.
- Interview 2 geeky people for Geeks Doing Geeky Things.
- Have 500 YouTube Subscribers.
- Complete a new 30 Day Blog Challenge.
- Post more mental health content on the blog.
- Update photos of myself on the blog.
- Host a giveaway.
- Set up and launch Patreon.
While I’d rather post a video a week, I know I need to keep my mental health in mind. Instead, I’m going to aim to post two videos a month with grace in mind to take time off. I also am hoping to learn how to edit my videos in a more pleasing way. I watch so many YouTubers that have very clean and cute editing styles so learning how to better use Premiere Pro is on the list this year. When I started my YouTube channel, I wanted to focus on geek fashion with my very first look book. I’d like to get back to that this year by curating TWO geeky look books. In that same vein, I also want to interview two geeks for Geeks Doing Geeky Things that are local to STL, but I may be opening that up to video interviews via Skype if I can’t manage to book a couple of local people this year.
Also for YouTube, I’d like to reach 500 subscribers this year. My original resolution was to have 1000 WordPress followers for 2020 which has been the goal since I started blogging, but with everyone’s support in 2019, we are already so close to accomplishing this! I am also aiming to complete another 30 Day Challenge! I really enjoy putting these together and contributing to the geek community. Speaking of the community, I am hoping to write even more mental health content for 2020! They are some of my most favorite posts to write. Updating my photos on the blog has made a reappearance this year, and I’m hoping to book an STL photographer this summer. Hosting a giveaway is also making a reappearance. The giveaway didn’t pan out for 2019, but it will this year!
Last, but not least, I am aiming to launch a Patreon for my blog! I felt like this huge resolution deserves its own paragraph. I’ve made graphics and started on the tiers, but it’s not ready to launch just yet; I’m still working out the kinks and trying to make it just right for all of you! The tiers will definitely include previews for my 30 Day Challenges! If there is something else you’d like included in any tiers, please let me know in the comments below!
Personal Resolutions for 2020
- Get an LLC for freelancing. (I need a name!)
- Add to my 3D model portfolio.
- Less junk food; more fruits and veggies.
- Be more eco-friendly & sustainable.
- Marie Kondo my stuff.
- Travel somewhere new.
- Take a vacation.
- Start writing a book.
- Complain less; appreciate more.
- Be kinder to myself.
I am finally taking my freelancing to a more professional level in hopes to start a serious side hustle. Now I just need to pick a name that’s not my given name or the name of this blog! Suggestions are welcome. Adding to my portfolio is somewhat making a comeback this year without a labeled amount. I’m still and will always be on a journey to better my physical well being, but I do what to aim to eat more fruits/veggies and less junk food this year. I’m also on a journey to continue my mental well being with therapy, and I think Marie Kondo’ing my spaces and things will help with stress and anxiety. I plan to document the process on my YouTube channel.
Traveling and taking a vacation are also making a return to my resolutions this year. Disney may or may not be in the books, but a trip to Ireland definitely is. I am planning to finally write a book that has filled several of my school notebooks once upon a time but more refined and thought out. In an effort to work even more on my mental health, the last two resolutions are a big step for me personally. I want to complain less about life and appreciate my life more. I also want to practice being kinder to myself.
I’m pretty happy with all of my resolutions this year. I’ve learned a lot from last year’s resolutions and took those lessons into account for this year’s resolutions. I am giving myself grace this year to not stress if my goals don’t pan out. I’m really looking forward to this year no matter what comes my way!
