In November, A Geeky Gal was nominated for the Real Neat Blog Award by Pete at MoeGamer! You should absolutely spend some time reading Pete’s posts like his Waifu Wednesday series or one shots like 10 Ways to Enjoy Video Games As A 21st Century Grown-Ass Adult. Thanks again Pete for the nomination. It’s very much appreciated! And I apologize for taking so awhile to do this. Life has been busy with the holidays quickly approaching!
The Rules:
- Display the Award Logo.
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and post a link to their blog.
- Answer the questions of the one who nominated you.
- Nominate 7-10 bloggers.
- Ask them seven questions.
Questions:
Have you ever deliberately sought out a piece of media you knew would make you uncomfortable somehow? If so, why did you do that and what was the experience like? Yes! I started watching Handmaid’s Tale knowing that the content could be extremely triggering for me. Needless to say, I have stopped watching it. It just wasn’t good for my mental health as much as I wanted to finish the series.
What is your favourite tangible, physical item that you own and why? My grandmother gave me a necklace that was a gift from my grandfather on their first wedding anniversary. I wore it on my wedding day and it’s the most important piece of jewelry I own besides my engagement ring and wedding band.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever sat on deliberately? This is definitely one of the weirdest questions I’ve ever gotten. Props to you, Pete! Haha! I can’t actually think of anything strange I’ve ever sat on. I might come back to this one later…
What do you want for Christmas? (I’m not going to get you it, I’m just curious.) Low key? A trip to Disney World. I know I’m not getting that, but I still want it! My husband and I are crossing our fingers for a trip in January of 2021.
Do you have something you would like to achieve that you know is well within reach, but which you can’t seem to make progress on? If so, what do you think is stopping you? If not, what was the last major achievement you think you accomplished? Yes! I really want to start freelancing more professionally rather than just every now and then. The main thing stopping me is self-confidence. I worry that I’m not good enough even though I’m coming up on almost 7 years of creating 2D and 3D art in my career. Imposter Syndrome anyone?
Assume you work full-time if you don’t already. If we suddenly switched to a 4-day working week, what would you do with that extra day? Funny story! I’m trying that out right now. My extra days have been spent, sleeping in, hitting up the gym, working on freelance projects, going to appointments, and recharging.
Think of the characters you find attractive — in terms of both personality and appearance. What traits do they have in common, and what is it you find attractive about those traits? Personality: soft heart, brave, protective, funny, sarcastic. Appearance: strong, tall, fit/thin. All of the personality traits are something I personally find attractive and looked for in a significant other. I need to feel protected and I love a good sense of humor. I’ve never been worried about appearances in any of my relationships, but I feel like thinness and fitness is an unfortunate side effect of what society says is attractive and it leaks into anime and other fandoms.
My Questions:
- What is something you love about yourself?
- If you had to be on a reality show, which one would you choose?
- What do you hope to achieve by 50 years old?
- What is one thing you are proud of?
- Who are your real life heroes?
- What is one thing people don’t know about you?
- What is your favorite thing you own and why?
My Nominations:
Pix @ Shoot the Rookie
Luke @ The Geek of Steel
Willow @ The Valkyeries
Belghast @ Tales of the Aggronaut
Mer @ Tiny Octopus Gaming
Feel free to participate if you like whether you’ve been nominated or not! Let me know if you decided to answer my questions by linking back to this post so I can see your answers!

Haha! I did the same with the Handmaid’s Tale. It was just making me too angry, especially, seeing the similarities to opinions held be real people.
Good luck with your freelancing. Self-promotion is one of the hardest things to do and I don’t think it gets any easier, unfortunately.

You should do a series showcasing some of your work or a tutorial series. I’d love to see your models and even though I usually model using Blender, I’d still read your tutorials. 🙂

I actually haven’t thought of that. That’s a really good idea! Most of the professional work I do I can’t share, but maybe one day when I finish some of my personal projects I can show it off on my portfolio tab here. There’s already some terrific branding boards there that I’m particularly happy with. 🙂
