5 Budget Friendly Board Games Perfect for Thanksgiving

If you’re participating in The Nerdy Girlie’s 5 Fandom Friday, you may have noticed a few of us have made some DLC’s (downloadable content) to complement the already lengthy blog prompt list courtesy of The Nerdy Girlie and Super Space Chick. You can check out my first DLC for 5 Fandom Friday at the GG Pack (the Geeky Gal Pack) and my second DLC here at  GG2 Pack!

While this post doesn’t follow one of the prompts mentioned above, I think this is the perfect opportunity to present five board games that are perfect for Thanksgiving in two weeks. Whether you need something family friendly for extended family or something with a little more spice for your not-so-family-friendly Friendsgiving, this list has got you covered.

5 Minute Dungeon

  • 2 to 5 Players
  • Ages 8 and Up
  • Family Friendly (but adults will love it, too!)
  • Can be played in 5 minutes!
  • $19.99 from Amazon**

I gushed about this cheap, fast game before during my Cheap Geeky Date Ideas YT video so I thought it needed to make another appearance on the blog! A good friend of mine and I got it at a local game shop to try out, and it has become a household favorite around here! Alec and I enjoy playing it on date nights and it can easily accommodate more players at friend and family gatherings. It’ll definitely find its way to the tables for our friendsgiving this year!

Joking Hazard

  • 3 or More Players
  • Ages 17 and Up
  • Adults Only
  • Can be played as long as you’d like!
  • $25 from Amazon**

Another game that is sure to be a hit at friendsgiving is Joking Hazard: the Cyanide and Happiness card game! It easily accommodates several players and the rules are easy to follow. Like Cards Against Humanity, it’s not for everyone. Be sure to only pull this game out around the cool people. After having a few adult beverages, it’ll keep the party in stitches. We always have a good time when we pull this one out!

Sushi Go Party!

  • Up to 8 Players
  • Ages 8 and Up
  • Family Friendly (but adults will love it, too!)
  • Can be played as long as you’d like!
  • $19.99 from Amazon**

Sushi lovers unite for this adorable ‘pick and pass’ card game! My husband hates fish but loves this quick game. It does involve a bit of math, but nothing too crazy for get-togethers. You just might need to help your little cousin add up their points. I played this with a bunch of my girl friends and has an amazing time. We all wish we had gotten sushi by the end of the first round!

Monopoly Deal

  • 2 to 5 Players
  • Ages 8 and Up
  • Family Friendly
  • Can be played in 15 minutes!
  • $7.99 from Amazon**

I don’t personally own the card game of Monopoly Deal, but I got to play it at a friend’s house, and it was really fun! This is another great short and sweet card game perfect for those family nights and holiday gatherings. The games are only about 15 minutes so you can rotate players as you like if several people want to give it go!

Mancala

  • 2 Players
  • Ages 7 and Up
  • Family Friendly
  • Can be played in 15 minutes!
  • $22.99 from Amazon**

Mancala has been a favorite in my family for about twenty years now. When I was small, I went to see some family in Oklahoma, and they introduced us to the “bead game” as we called it back then. We loved it so much that we went home with our own set. It’s a perfect two player game that really any age can play. The rules are simple, but it does involve a bit of strategy to win!
