Hi there! Welcome to my geeky corner of the internet. My name is Megan, and if this post seems a little familiar, that’s because it’s been posted TWICE before! My very first little introductory blog post from FIVE YEARS AGO was posted on my blogger site before I rebranded and moved to WordPress. Then I thought I’d make a new updated introduction in 2017 after rebranding A Geeky Gal. Now, I’m back again with a shiny new introduction post to re-introduce myself to my 700+ WordPress followers.
A little about me:
- My name is Megan. I’m 26 years old.
- I’m from a small town in Alabama, but I moved to STL in 2016 to pursue a career in graphic art and 3D modeling.
- I am married to my best friend, Alec, who is from Ireland. We went through the K1 Visa process together, had an amazing wedding in my hometown, then celebrated our honeymoon with our first trip to Walt Disney World!
- We have a dog named Padme. She is very much the queen of our home.
- I’m 5′ 1.5″ (can’t forget the half).
- My birthday is on New Year’s day.
- I’m an INFJ!
- My hobbies include gaming, reading, writing, cosplay, watching Netflix & Hulu, lifting weights, binging YouTube Let’s Plays, and pinning my imaginary life on Pinterest.
- I love anime, Harry Potter, Dungeons & Dragons, Disney, and other geeky stuff.
- My favorite color is black.
Random Facts:
- I currently don’t have any tattoos.
- I still wear converse pretty much exclusively.
- My husband and I really enjoy watching Disney and Marvel movies together.
- My circle of friends is small, but they are the best kind of people.
- I’ve wanted to be an artist ever since I was a kid.
- I started writing fanfiction in middle school and ended up falling in love with writing.
- I was Salutatorian of my college graduating class.
- I love thrifting clothes, furniture and home decor.
- I have PTSD and anxiety.

What you can expect from my blog and me:
This is probably what has changed the most and continues to evolve. I finally have a brand for my blog. Gone are the weekly rambling posts (though those still make it through the cracks sometimes). Here come the scheduled, organized, and well-thought-out posts! If you would like to get in touch with me about any of these series in regards to guest posting or sponsoring me, see my About Me page.
I’ve been pretty good about doing yearly blog challenges as well! If that sounds like something that is up your alley, check out my 30 Day Video Game Challenge post or my 30 Day Anime Challenge post. This year’s challenge is literally right around the corner so keep your eyes peeled for something fun and different!

In the words of a past Megan…
Thank you to readers, new and old. Without you, this blog wouldn’t be possible. I really enjoy writing each of these posts and spend much more time writing them than when I first started. Writing turned into a passion for me but this blog definitely dropped off the map a bit before I dusted it off and tried again. So welcome to the old, but improved A Geeky Gal!
Stay tuned…

That was a nice (re) introduction to you and your blog! I remember you talking about some of those things, but there were aspects I didn’t know at first. That’s really cool. I think I’m due for another update about me on the Ospreyshire blog once 8/1 hits. Haha!

Converses are the best thing. I wear them pretty much all the time as well. This is great to do a reintroduction and I love how yours has random facts as well as blog stuff. I might take this as an idea for the future…

Nice to meet you Megan! My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Universal Studios for Harry Potter world. 😀

Nice to meet you too! 😊 I love that! I wish we could have seen it for more than one day. It was very crowded unfortunately so we didn’t get to see and do as much as we’d have liked.

Great Intro!
I like that you wore converse with your wedding dress lol

I love this. Also I have so many pairs of converse, and I love the picture of you in your wedding dress with the cons!

Thank you! I’ve started a small thrifted collection of pretty colors! Can you believe I thrifted my wedding converse too?! I was so excited when I spotted them!

That’s amazing! You wouldn’t get a lot of second-hand converse here in Ireland, maybe in Dublin. I love the idea of getting them thrifted though, so much better for the environment and your pocket!

Absolutely! Is thrifting a “thing” in Ireland? Are second hand shops easy to find?
LikeLiked by 1 person
It is and it isn’t. So there are quite a lot of charity shops that sell clothes they received as donations. While there are less ‘second-hand’ shops, so it’s harder to find consistency. A lot of charity shops are great, but you would rarely see converse or brands. Also, there isn’t a huge population in Ireland.

That stinks! Have you tried online thrifting? I think depop has quite a big following that includes other countries besides the US, but I haven’t personally bought anything on there yet. I’ve been toying with the idea of doing an online thrift haul as well as a traditional thrift haul.

I really want to try depop but I am so nervous about trying it! Oh man I would love to watch that video!

Same here! I’ve gotten familiar with Poshmark but maybe it’d be cool to grab a few things from Poshmark, Depop and ThredUp to see how they compare? Oooh that would be so much fun! You always give me the best ideas!

I always like to say I’m like 5’1 and 3/4, but I think that’s just my ponytail giving me extra height haha! I’m an INTJ, so we’re pretty close personality wise 😉
