Monday Musings: Tear My Castle Down

Tear My Castle Down

I’m standing on my castle which stands on the world.

So why does everyone think I’m standing on them?

I stand here alone; I don’t need a boy or girl.

I can do this without you, all by myself.

So don’t raise a finger to help me dress.

And did I ask for your advice?

“Darling, you’re a mess,” she says.

“And much too nice.”

I’m standing on my castle which stands on the world.

I built it with very little help, heavy stone by stone.

I did the planning and the building and the work.

So why would you tear it down all alone?

You’ll need more than that.

I won’t make this easy for you.

“Girl, don’t make me laugh.”

It’s near the end for you.

I’m standing on my castle which stands on the world.

Try to bring it down now, but you won’t succeed.

I’ll watch over my balcony, laughing at the curses you hurl.

And smile as you expose your true identity.
