Monday Musings: Speechless

Speechless

She can’t breathe

deep

enough to say

all the things

she wants to.

The words and

thoughts

are on the edge

of her tongue,

ready to be spoken.

If only she could

open

her mouth to

say it all,

get it off her chest.

She can’t say

the

things that threaten

to burst out;

it leads to trouble.

If you could open her

door

of secrets, would

you stay to

listen intently?

Everyone tells her

shut-up.

So she does,

remains hidden.

She has her key, the

lock

is old, rusted,

but it’s reliable,

not like the key.

Can you open

it,

and let out

the screams, the

secrets, the lies?
