Another year has come and gone on A Geeky Gal. It’s been an eventful and amazing 2018 for my blog and my personal life. I wanted to take a look at my resolutions that I set at the beginning of the year to see how far I’ve come, how my goals have changed, and what I want to work on next year!

Many of my blog resolutions were met this year which is pretty awesome! I’m really pleased with the way everything has happened so far. I finally have my website just the way I want it. My YouTube Channel is up with one video on it (it’s an “unbagging”)! I surpassed my goal of 150 WP followers, 100 FB likes, and 300 IG followers! I also completed not one but two 30 day challenges this year including my 30 Day Video Game Challenge as well as my 30 Day Anime Challenge! Both of which I created (obviously there’s other video game and anime challenges but these contain questions brought together by me)!
With so many of these resolutions crossed off, there’s not many left on the list, but there are some. I wasn’t able to make pinnable images for all of my posts. I’m honestly not even sure if it’s worth it to go back and try this one again. I also only got to guest post for one blogger this year: Normal Happenings. It was no one’s fault but my own as I had offers to guest post for others, but real life came first, and I ran out of time and energy. I also have several games lined up to do Let’s Play’s, so I’m still planning on trying this resolution next year. Last was the giveaway which was a bit of a stretch goal for me. Again, I would love to try this one again next year.
Personal Resolutions for 2018
- Reach my goal weight.
- Make my Pinterest closet dreams come true.
- Read one book a month (or 12 in a year).
- Finish the Library.
- Design 10 branding boards for my portfolio.
- Create 5 game-ready 3D models for my portfolio.
- Pay off debt (not including school loans).
Generate a second income.(Freelancing & Poshmark) Learn HTML/CSS.
- Take a vacation.
My personal resolutions didn’t go as well as my blog ones. With our wedding this year as well as work keeping me busy, my personal resolutions fell to the wayside… BUT! I am confident that most of these are going to make another appearance for next year. Like reaching my goal weight! I didn’t realize I would have to maintain my weight for 6 months to fit into my wedding dress, but I now have a personal trainer, and the wedding is over so here I come Goal Weight! As for the dream closet… it’s just not feasible. I think focusing on creating a personal style would be a better use of my time (and money). Reading one book a month should have been a snap, but ya girl has had a busy year, and it just didn’t happen.
The Library is on it’s way to completion but I think it’d be cool to document some of the DIY projects that we have going on in that room. Again, I just didn’t have the time or energy to try to finish the Library this year. The next two resolutions were definitely portfolio related and have been something I really needed to work on this year. I was only able to complete 8 out of then 10 boards I had hoped to create. It’s still a good accomplishment though so I count this one as a win! I didn’t get models finished for my 3D portfolio which is a huge bummer but I plan on devoting some time to some smaller assets to at least have something I can show off.
The one resolution that did get crossed off the list was generating a second income. Freelancing and selling on Poshmark wasn’t enough to knock out our last credit card, but it did help pay for several things for our wedding, honeymoon, and Christmas. I have learned quite a lot of HTML and CSS this year using free sources, but I can’t say I’m ready to build a website yet! And last but not least was a vacation that never happened, but… I can’t wait to be at Disney in 2019!
Thank you for all of your support this year! All of this wouldn’t have been possible without you!
