Today I’m picking an anime that I haven’t seen many people talk about. You all know how much I love a bitter sweet anime, but do you also know how much I love horror? The anime is currently on Netflix, has one season, and, of course, has a Saturday Suggestion post already here on A Geeky Gal. That anime is Ghost Hunt.
Ghost Hunt is an anime adapted from a Japanese light novel series of a similar name. It is “incomplete,” but there is speculation it will continue. Regardless that the anime is only one season, it was definitely a great one, and I cannot wait to see more if they wish to continue. It really didn’t leave us on a cliff hanger so I see no reason not to give it a shot if you’re wary about it being “incomplete.”
Our story is all about the Shibuya Psychic Research center. It’s managed by 17-year-old Kazuya Shibuya, or Naru, as our main character Mai likes to call him. They are a paranormal investigation team, and here’s where things get even more awesome. The characters accompanying Mai and Naru have thier own talents and ways of dealing with the supernatural: Buddhist monk Houshou Takigawa (Monk); shrine maiden Ayako Matsuzaki; celebrity psychic Masako Hara; and Catholic priest John Brown. Mai and Naru are seemingly without these talents but with help from Naru’s assistant Lin, they solve each case thrown their way, whether the case is actually paranormal or not.
The only complaint I have, that I hope will be remedied in a new season, was I wanted to see more character development and more back story on our main cast. We learn bits and pieces throughout the anime, but I’m so ready to see Mai and Naru come full circle and learn more about where the rest of our characters come from. — A Geeky Gal
As of this post, there’s no talk of a second season for Ghost Hunt. I really feel like this anime deserves a second season. I guess I’ll have to read the manga to satisfy my need for more horror, Fatal Frame-like legends, and better character development! What’s an anime lover to do?

I would love a second season of this anime because there are so many things we still don’t know about the characters and because the story is broken into very distinct arcs that have a clear beginning and end it wouldn’t feel like the story was dragging. Nice choice.

Two series I would love to see continue, both for the same reason, because i fell in love with the world and its characters.
The first one is the most unique entry in the “trapped in a video game” genre I’ve seen: Log Horizon. I still go back and rewatch it.
The second one is To Aru Majutsu no Index and its sci-fantasy wonders.
