Anime Challenge Day 12: Who is your favorite male anime character?

Things are taking a lighter note today with my favorite male anime character. I’ve talked about this anime before and how much I love it. I always turn to it when I need something funny and light. I would dare say it’s one of my top five anime. That anime is Ouran High School Host Club. So which one of these amazing guys from the Host Club is my favorite male anime character? That honor goes to Tamaki Suoh.

In the words of Tamaki, the leader: Only those with excellent social standing and those from filthy rich families are lucky enough to spend their time here at the elite private school, Ouran Academy. The Ouran Host Club is where the school’s handsomest boys, with too much time on their hands, entertain young ladies who also have way too much time on their hands. Just think of it as Ouran Academy’s elegant playground for the super rich and beautiful. Thanks for the intro Tamaki (who is also voiced by the same VA that did Fullmetal Alchemist’s Edward Elric).

That voice actor is Vic Mignogna. Vic does Tamaki so well and really brings him to life. I can’t say that I would like Tamaki as much if he was voiced by someone else! But it’s not just the voice of Tamaki that makes him my favorite male anime character. It’s also the comic relief he brings to the show. He’s outspoken yet naive and has some of the most comical facial expressions out of all the Hosts.

Watching Tamaki lead the Hosts and make the Host Club the best it can be is hilarious and full of romance. Two things I always look for in anime. Watching Tamaki “romance” the girls who come to the Host Club makes me smile and laugh. He’s an amazing entertainer and so intelligent.

Ouran High School Host Club is a feel good anime, and Tamaki brings all the good feels. Sweet and handsome as well as entertaining and smart, Tamaki’s character brings a light to OHSHC. Hislight makes him my favorite male anime character.
