Anime Challenge Day 8: What is your favorite anime so far?

I’ve had a lot of favorite anime over the years. InuYasha was probably the one I was the most obsessed with, but it doesn’t take my top spot for favorite anime so far. That spot goes to one that has amazing art, fantastic characters, scrumptious food, dark humor, and a great story line. That anime is Black Butler.

I’ve written a pretty thorough review for Black Butler already on Saturday Suggestions, but here’s an excerpt:

The story follows 12-year-old Ciel Phantomhive, head of a noble family and owner of a toy manufacturing company. He has formed a contract with the demon Sebastian Michaelis, the ever good-looking, loyal, and devoted butler to Ciel. The anime is cloaked in dark humor and mystery. […] The slew of supportive characters bring in a little light in this dark anime. They make us laugh, they make us cry, and most importantly, they make us wish we had a hot butler like Sebastian.

And this:

There are so many twists and turns in Black Butler. You think you know what’s going to happen and then you’re dead wrong. It’ll have you on the edge of your seat with the epic fight scenes, laughing until you cry because, yes, the characters are that insane, and drooling over the epic-ness that is Sebastian Michaelis. If you can’t find another reason to watch Black Butler, do it for Sebastian.

[…]

The art is amazing and well-done. There is always room for silly shenanigans though that makes our characters larger than life and comical. The food described is really awesome. Most episodes start off with Sebastian bringing food and tea to his master, Ciel. The descriptions are phenomenal and make your tummy growl.

While this anime can be dark and mysterious, it can also be quite comical and witty. I loved almost everything about it,  especially a certain demon butler. It has been my favorite anime I’ve watched so far. While maybe not for the newbie anime watcher, Sebastian simply is one hell of butler… If you’re a seasoned anime fan, add Black Butler to your watch list. Like yesterday.

  1. I don’t really have a single favourite, I tend to just have favourites that go up and down in favour depending on my mood. But Black Butler is definitely in that group of favourites. Love watching it.

  2. Right now since I’ve only watched like three anime all the way through, Death Note is easily my favorite one. But I’m slowly expanding my horizons, so maybe it’ll change by the end! I might add this one to my list, as I’ve heard good things about it in the past as well as now.

  3. Have you read the manga? It’s such a must if you enjoyed the anime and will give you different and new content than the anime! I was so excited when they announced the Book of Circus was being animated, it’s my favourite arc! ❤
