Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to watch much anime this year. It’s been pretty busy for me personally. With a wedding fast approaching, work keeping me busy, and my schedule not quite lining up with my husband’s, it’s been tough to watch anything new. This past Labor Day weekend changed that for me though. I finally got to try out a new anime thanks to my husband’s recommendation.
If you’ve ever seen an episode of Food Wars, you already know it’s full of delicious food and fan service for everyone. Although there’s no actual nudity (so far), it’s an extremely NSFW (not safe for work) anime. I haven’t laughed so much watching an anime in a long time. Nor have ever been as hungry!
After twelve episodes, I went searching for some of those amazing recipes online. Of course I found one delicious recipe by Feast of Fiction (one of my favorite YouTube channels). And now I’m even looking for rice bowl recipes on Pinterest. Food Wars has quickly become one of my favorite animes!
While we do get to see a lot of scrumptious food being made, Food Wars’ main protagonist, Soma, is just awesome even though he’s so cocky. He’s an amazing cook, an amazing friend, an ambitious chef, and just a good guy. He’s entertaining and so easy to cheer on. He’s surrounded with a lot of characters that range from friends to rivals to students and teachers
If you love food, if you can stand silly fan service, and if you love to laugh, Food Wars needs to go on you watch list. Soma has captured my heart and my appetite. I’m only 12 episodes in as of this post, but I really can’t wait to watch more! It’s been one of the only recommendations I’ve tried this year, but it’s definitely worth the watch.

I love Food Wars! I watched series 1 and 2 a while ago but decided to wait for Third Plate to finish airing before watching it. I’m currently halfway through Third Plate and I’m still loving it although I’m finding it hard to fully remember what happened previously…

I told my husband last night I was just so in love with this anime. It’s hilarious, absurd, and the food is freaking amazing. I can’t wait to finish and watch the second and third parts!
