If you’re participating in The Nerdy Girlie’s 5 Fandom Friday, you may have noticed a few of us have made some DLC’s (downloadable content) to complement the already lengthy blog prompt list courtesy of The Nerdy Girlie and Super Space Chick. You can check out my first DLC for 5 Fandom Friday: the GG Pack (the Geeky Gal Pack)!
Father’s Day is this weekend in case you needed a reminder (here it is!). I thought this 5FF prompt was perfect for today! There’s so many fictional dads out there that truly are my favorites. I decided to pick five fathers that really embody the “best” dad. From anime to Disney, here are my favorite fictional dads!
“Ranka” Fujioka
You know I try to squeeze in Ouran High School Host Club wherever I can… Ryoji “Ranka” Fujioka is Haruhi’s dad. He’s a loving husand and a doting father. After his wife passes, Ryoji begins cross dressing and takes on the name “Ranka.” He loves Haruhi and does everything he can to make sure she was a mother and a father.
Burt Hummel
Don’t be surprised to see this Glee dad on my list. Burt has come a long way from learning his son is gay to defending him to dealing with nearly losing his life. Despite being a “man’s man,” he’s extremely protective and loving of his son Kurt.
Marlin
Marlin from Disney’s Finding Nemo starts off as a very overprotective, pessimistic dad. He lost several of his children as well as his wife. After Nemo is abducted, Marlin meets Dory, and he begins to understand that he can love and protect Nemo without keeping him from being a kid. He starts to loosen up thanks to Dory and his journey to Sydney.
Rick Grimes
Of course the one and only Rick Grimes of the Walking Dead has to make an appearance here! As the father of two children in the middle of the zombie apocalypse, Rick was extremely protective but knew he would have to teach his older son how to protect himself and his sister. He did just that, teaching Carl how to be smart and do what needed to be done in a world full of danger. We won’t talk about what happens in later seasons though (I’m not caught up yet!).
Daniel Hillard
One of my favorite Robin Williams’ movies is Mrs. Doubtfire. A husband separated from his wife who doesn’t have his life together concocts a crazy plan to spend time with his kids. He becomes Mrs. Doubtfire, the kids’ new nanny. While Daniel is obviously irresponsible at the beginning of the movie, his love for his children is vast. What other dad would put on a fat suit to spend time with his kids?
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! What fictional dads are your favorites? Tell me in the comments!
All the Marlin and Finding Nemo love. Just keep swimming. I really want to rewatch it now…

You totally should. 😉 I tend to re-watch Disney and Pixar movies to make myself happy.

YAY for Finding Nemo! I’m sure many others feel as I do about Robin Williams…the man was a legend and is sorely missed. My faves…probably Mufasa, because Disney. Any Steve Martin character but probably Tom Baker (Cheaper by the Dozen), John Goodman as Dan (I love that man!). Great post Megan! x

Very interesting selection. Atticus Finch has to be my number one fictional father.

You know, I’m sure I read it but I can’t remember reading “To Kill a Mockingbird.” I’ll have to make the time to pick it back up.
