5FF: Favorite Podcasts

If you’re participating in The Nerdy Girlie’s 5 Fandom Friday, you may have noticed a few of us have made some DLC’s (downloadable content) to complement the already lengthy blog prompt list courtesy of The Nerdy Girlie and Super Space Chick. You can check out my first DLC for 5 Fandom Friday: the GG Pack (the Geeky Gal Pack)!

While I no longer have an hour long commute, I still listen to podcasts and audiobooks on the way to work and on the way home. Recently, Alec and I took a ten hour trip back to my hometown for our wedding shower. We literally went through the entire playlist for the Tales podcast, and it was glorious. I thought today would be a good day to share some of my favorite podcasts (and a YouTube channel) with you guys!

Tales

As an avid fairy tale fan, I love all versions of my Disney favorites. What I really enjoy about Tales is that they are able to present the story as it was originally intended, at least as much as they can as it wasn’t until much later that these tales were actually written down. The amazing story telling really brings a great picture to the story. Start with Beauty and the Beast if you plan on giving Tales a try.

Serial Killers

Anyone else fascinated with serial killers? Just me? …. Anyway, if you do love true crime and a look behind the curtain at some famous serial killers, Serial Killers is freaking amazing. Seriously. The hosts are two of my favorite people to listen to (and you may recognize one of the from Tales).

Haunted Places

Like my mom, I have a weird obsession with the paranormal. I love Ghost Adventures, Supernatural, and Paranormal State. I love Ed and Lorraine Warren. If you love paranormal places with supernatural stories, definitely check out Haunted Places. One of the hosts of Serial Killers is also the host of Haunted Places; he does a fantastic job of the story telling needed to bring these places to life!

Millennial Money Minutes

mmmfinal

I’ve recently become obsessed with personal finance thanks to the YouTube channel mentioned below. I stumbled across this Podcast, Millennial Money Minutes, the other day while looking for something new to listen to in the car. Their latest podcast on home ownership is eye opening. Give it a listen.

The Financial Diet

This my most favorite channel of all time: The Financial Diet. Why did I include it in a list of podcasts? It doesn’t need to be “watched.” You can turn this on in the car and head to work on be twenty minutes smarter about money when you arrive. It’s led to several financial changes in my life. It’s a life changing channel. And if they ever decide to make a podcast, You can bet it’ll be on in my car every morning.

What are some of your favorite podcasts? Do you have a podcast? Let me know in the comments, and I’ll give it a listen!

  1. I don’t listen to a ton of podcasts but I enjoyed In The Dark which focused on the Jacob Wetterling and The Last Podcast On The Left, which is true crime/weird stuff!

  2. In kinda the same vein, because they can be enjoyed as podcasts, I love watching/listening to RPG shows, like Critical Role and Dice, Camera Action. It’s pure storytelling and theatre of the mind, so I can just sit back, listen and imagine.

Lately the one that has my complete attention is Shield of Tomorrow, a Star Trek RPG show, which surprised me as before enjoying this show I wasn’t much of a Star Trek fan. This actually made me change my mind about the franchise and I’ve been binge-watching The Next Generation on Netflix.

I mention all this along with podcasts because the first ones I ever listened to were the Acquisitions Incorporated podcasts. those were purely audio, nothing on the screen, and they were amazing.
