5FF: Conventions I’ve Been To Or Wish To Attend

If you’re participating in The Nerdy Girlie’s 5 Fandom Friday, you may have noticed a few of us have made some DLC’s to complement the already lengthy blog prompt list courtesy of The Nerdy Girlie and Super Space Chick. You can check out my first DLC for 5 Fandom Friday: the GG Pack (the Geeky Gal Pack)!

Today is all about conventions I’ve attended and wish to attend one day. I wish I could say I’ve been to 5 conventions, but I’ve only been to three so far. I hope I can add one more this weekend for Anime St. Louis but with all the wedding planning, we’ll just have to see.

Kami Con

Sorry for the poor picture quality. My little digital camera was very strange and needed you to push the button in such a way to avoid blurriness. We never really figured it out. Regardless, KamiCon 2013 in Birmingham, AL was my very convention. We had an amazing time with so much to do and see. I got to see cosplayers in person and even some awesome voice actors (Vic Mignogna)! It was a really great first convention.

Momo Con

Not many pictures were taken at MomoCon which took place a couple of weeks after KamiCon. Alec and I took my brother to Atlanta, GA for his birthday. This shot is of Alec in his Little Kuriboh shirt and a minecraft creeper’s head while he “reads” the events and panels for the weekend. This convention was even bigger than KamiCon and a bit overwhelming. We walked from the hotel we were in to the con to avoid paying valet fees. Still a great experience for all three of us though.

It wasn’t until 2015 that Alec and I were able to attend another convention together. This time it was Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA). Even bigger than MomoCon, this con was the first one we were able to cosplay at. We had an amazing time and I can’t wait to do it again.

MCM London Comic Con

Celebrities, Quidditch, international cosplayers: MCM has it all. It’s a big dream of mine to visit London (one of the Doctor’s favorite places), but also to attend MCM! Maybe one day….

Otakon

Reasons I want to attend Otakon:

  1. One of the largest cons
  2. Cosplayers
  3. Celebrities
  4. Indie Row
  5. Lolita Garden

What conventions have you been to? Which were your favorite? What cons are on your wishlist? Tell me in the comments!

  1. I’ve unfortunately never been to one. I’m not sure if I’d enjoy it as I hate crowded environments but I’ve fancied the idea for a while. Since I’m from the UK, I’d probably end up going to MCM in London. That would be a pretty awesome first convention!

  2. Awesome cons list! Looks like you had a great time! I’ve been to a few – Spooky Empire, LeakyCon, A Celebration of Harry Potter, and MegaCon. I’d love to go to San Diego Comic Con some day, but it’s such a huge event, I’m not sure how I’d navigate it.

    1. I’ve completed a couple of cosplays already but if I were to go with some cosplays I haven’t done yet they would be: Monica from Doki Doki Literature Club, a modern Disney princess, and a casual Starfire. I usually go with comfort over anything intricate!

  3. Some interesting conventions on your list! Being from the uk I haven’t heard of some of these. So far I’ve been Comic Con Manchester and I60 (uk video game convention). I’d love to go to MCM London one day though!
