Thanks to The Dragon’s Tea Party, I started playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. It has been my introduction to the Zelda series, and I will say that it’s been quite an enjoyable experience so far!
I really dig the 3DS layout for the game. I like being able to see the map and Link’s gear on the bottom of the 3DS with Link himself at the top. I also really enjoy using different weapons besides his sword and shield like the bow that recharges with energy via an energy gauge.
I’ve had fun with the level designs so far, too! I love the puzzles and clearing out dungeons. It definitely satisfies the quester/completionist in me. It has game play I have never experienced before as well. Link has an ability to merge onto walls and move horizontally along them! The game’s perspective even changes as you do this. It’s really exciting for me to use this clever game mechanic.
As I’m still playing and getting to know my first game within The Legend of Zelda series, I hope to come back to this one day with a Saturday Suggestion post on it. It’s definitely made a fan out of me and I can’t wait to experience more!

It’s only February; plenty of time to try one out before the year is up!

This is a great place to start if you’re just picking up Zelda. It does a lot of things right to be accessible but challenging. And it has a gorgeous art style.

If you’ve enjoyed this game, I (as a gigantic Zelda fan) urge you to try its original, its prequel, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Originally released on Super Nintendo. It’s a phenomenal game and in my opinion one of the toughest Zelda games and a very large world to play in with very creative dungeons.
You can usually get it on the virtual console.

I definitely plan on trying A Link to the Past! Now that I’ve got my feet wet with my first Zelda game, I can’t wait to get my hands on some more!

Oh, do also pick up Link’s Awakening, Gameboy. Phenomenal Zelda.
